I think you're the one who needs to watch the game. I watched the replay last nite and I didn't see Oregon do anything on the ground against Auburn. Oregon had a total of 75 net yards rushing for the whole game. That's total for the whole game. That's total for LMJ, KB and DT. Total for the whole game. TOTAL. With 5 minutes to go in the game Oregon had scored a total of 11 pts. and Auburn was not even a good defensive team. Their achilles heel was their secondary. They had trouble there all season and just didn't have the players to fix it. I also did not see any evidence of Auburn being tired in the second half. They controlled the line of scrimmage from start to finish. As a matter of fact it was the Oregon defense that looked tired there at the end. note: sorry to butt in on a lively conversation but I just couldn't stand it any longer Please continue on.
They couldn't do anything on the ground, because they couldn't run to the outside for fear of slippage. Of course Auburn will stop the run inside where Fairley was a beast. That was my point.
So fear stopped Oregon's run game instead of Auburn. Why didn't Auburn fear slipping? They rushed for 254 yards inside and out.
Jj is a beast when he has time to prepare. The team will train for this game for weeks. Ou has no idea what to expect from a new oc. Ou knows lsu will run the ball buts that's a vague assumption. Ou doesn't know what formations krag will use and when it's a run or play action. I think the offense will do fine. The defense will have to play as they did in the cotton bowl to keep ou out of their game plan. Tyrann will be a beast and the game changer. He may be our next pp7.
It's UO, not Ou. LSU won't know what will come from Oregon either. New personnel breeds a new way of playing the game. Kelly isn't married to any offense. He's married to playing it fast. Oregon's plays from the offensive side of the ball have changed year to year, designing it around the players he has. He took a fifth string QB and a 2nd string RB to the Rose Bowl in 2009, and a first year starting QB to the NC in his 2nd. Defensively, Oregon can just look at Krag's tendencies from other games he's coached. Of course he hasn't coached since 2009. He's not changing the system from say a power I to a spread. From what I've seen, he'll run the same style offense as last year, maybe with a bit more spread mixed in to use JJ's running ability. Just my take, I could be wrong!
don't get too fixed on JJ, if things don't go well you'll see the 6-5, 250 pound Mett with an arm only seen on film by your ducks... it's all irrelevant anyway, the Tiger defense holds your ducks go under 20...
