There is a big difference in the way the two games went down. Lange got hit early but he didn't make any crazy errors that killed his team. Then he found his groove and was almost unhitable. Poche pitched three perfect ininngs and if he hadn't muffed the easy throws to first he would have retired the first 8 batters. After that it was in his head and the fact that his teammates made crucial errors didn't help the cause. Now if he gets to pitch again he will have had almost a week to settle down and forget about it and he is a good enough pitcher to do just that. Have you ever been playing great golf for a few holes and then hit a really bad shot and then played like shit for the rest of the round? I know I have and it happens even to the pros.
Turns out its the first complete game by an LSU pitcher in the cws since sirotka in that '93 Long Beach state game we were talking about a couple days ago.
Pick your poison. If you want one team and not the other you have to beat them twice later-- If you win game 3. Pray for 37 innings.
TCU/Vandy - no score after 6 innings. It's going to take everything we have to win each game from here on out.
Yeah, it would be nice to beat Vandy in the next game, then take 2 from TCU. Odds are very much against it, but that would be my dream scenario.
So it used to be once you made it to the final the winner took it all, regardless of if you haven't been beaten yet.
