I would think that Taylor, Derrick Bryant, Hatcher and Duplessis would redshirt their first year and Patrick Johnson and TJ Bryant (if both actually come) could play as true freshmen.

I'd say that in our first game next season, we'd likely see:

    Jai Euegene, Soph. *starter*
    Chris Hawkins, Jr. *starter*
    Phelon Jones, RS-Fr. *nickel*

and possibly a rotation at nickel and dime packages:

    John Williams, RS-Fr.
    Ron Brooks, RS-Fr.
    TJ Bryant, Fr.
    P. Johnson, Fr.

We would have SO many options with the secondary and lots of flexability...

We could have a "big nickle" formation with 3 safties (Chad Jones, McCray, Curtis Taylor)...the possibilities are endless!

I read somewhere that height is a big concern for Williams at CB & he may move positions. Brooks is also supposed to be pretty short.

I haven't read an update on Derrick Bryant in a while, but I'm very high on him so I hope he does not reconsider. In that situation I think we'd see St. Julien take a redshirt.

Jai Eugene & Chris Hawkins have to be the favorites for the starting CB positions next year based on seniority (Hawkins will be a RS JR & Jai a RS Soph) & having more PT than the others at this point, although neither has a whole lot. If any of the other guys step up the position is there's for the taking.

TJ & Patrick Johnson are both much higher rated players (according to Rivals/Scout), but I'm just as high on Derrick Bryant.

Even considering McCray didn't have a great year at nickelback, I don't see him losing the starting position from the 1st game. Maybe later in the year...

I think with PJohnson coming to school in the Spring will allow him the full spring and summer practices to get ready to possibly start as a true freshman. It is not too far fetched he could start from game 1.

I think the biggest surprise out of all the guys will be Derrick Bryant... I think he's going to be great

:geaux: :crystal: :helmet: Only thing I would really question on this would be Jai Eugrene as a starter. He did not look impressive the times I saw him on the field this year, especially against Kentucky, if I remember correctly. Not saying that he won't end up being an outstanding player at some point in his career at LSU, but he would have to improve a heck of a lot be a starter next year. There were times this season he acted like he didn't have a clue and had to be told where to line up after he got on the field. Sharp contrast when compared to Chad Jones.:geauxtige :champs: :LSU231:

I dont think u can compare chad jones to eugene....the reason why the CB position is probably the most demanding position on the field...now dont get me wrong jones is the better athlete i think he will be better than landry becasuse his body and physical skills are more developed than landry was as a freshman landry was very small...anyway the real reason i made this reply is to sort of defend eugene he did make a few bone headed plays but to tell u ther truth i dont know if u tape the games like i do if u go back and lokk i never really saw him get beat he was always right there with the guy he was covering i dont have any doubts about him being able to start and hold his own ...we put this guy into some tough situations as a true freshman in some high pressure games and he performed in my opinion great being a freshman i never saw any1 just blow bye him....i think a good spring and some confidence against the talent we have a receiver he will be more than fine......im more concerned at linebacker if beckwith doesnt return cuz im not sold on cutera at all....:thumb:
