Tinysee must be sending out their bagman with a fistful of cash to salvage their recruiting season. :cuss: From today's Atlanta Journal Constitution: http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/stories/0126recruiting.html?COXnetJSessionIDbuild115=DYvkh7S4D3alMz3FlyeC8ymdSp2LMsc7wdRfi95tMBzrEQuWq1xb!-1848936515&UrAuth=%60N%60NUOaNZUbTTUWUXUWUZTZU\UWUbUWUZU\U%60UcTYWVVZV&urcm=y LSU coach Les Miles traveled to Stone Mountain on Wednesday night in an attempt to hold onto commitments from two of his top recruits. Stephenson linebackers Kelvin Sheppard and Perry Riley, who said earlier they'd sign with LSU, are now considering switching to Tennessee, Sheppard said Wednesday. "I'm still committed to LSU, but it's between Tennessee and LSU," Sheppard said in telephone interview before Miles' visit. Tennessee already has a commitment from one Stone Mountain linebacker — Redan's LaMarcus Thompson. All three of the players are friends. Sheppard said Thompson has been helping Tennessee "a little bit." Tennessee's proximity is another factor. "I'm going to pick the one I feel the most confident in about the playing time and the environment that I'll be in," Sheppard said
When did they become two of Miles top recruits? Neither is ranked very high although we do have a need at LB.
I didnt say that, its in the article. Even if they are not the top recruits I dont like losing anyone. We need LB's and Miles obviously thought enough of these 2 to offer and recruit them hard. I dont care what their rankings are if the coaching staff see's fit to offer, I trust their evaluation more than recruiting services.
Translated: "I've looked at the other cats I'll be up against in Baton Rouge, and I'm starting to think I don't measure up. Sure, playing for The Phat One means no SEC titles for me, but I get to play every down of the 6-5, 7-4 seasons I have in my immediate future if I become a Vol."
I wasn't pointing the finger at you just wondering where they got that info. If Miles wants them I want them but It's not like they seem to be all that great like the article suggests.
Sheppard sure likes to run his mouth. He sounds like someone who tells whoever they are talking to at the time what they want to hear. I will believe he is a Tiger when he sends in his letter. Till then he is just a recruit that likes to see his name in the paper. He better enjoy the attention because once he signs the letter for whichever school he becomes just another nobody until he proves something on the field.
How are you still committed yet considering another school? Good lord...either you are COMMITTED or unsure
The star system can be a bad indication to how good a player is. Lot's of players are under the radar. Take DeMeco Ryans, Tyrone Prothro, Wallace Gilberry, and Ken Darby--all 3 star guys. Obviously he sees some talent to go out of state like that...
No doubt about it and I said if Miles wants them so do I but the article said "two of his top recruits" and there is no way you can consider either one of them one of his top recruits. Years down the road if they do come they may end up being the best of the bunch but at this point you would have to list them near the bottom.
