LSU churns out NFL players, but they aren’t living up to expectations - KansasCity.com LSU getting a bad rap...or are we just always wearing purple and gold glasses?
Bad rap... There will always be bust but go player by player over the last 8-10 years or so and you will see more quality players than busts. I guess KC is looking for someone to blame because they suck... Didn't stop them for going for another LSU DL after Dorsey. Dorsey just doesn't match their system and he been steadily improving and way too early to call either a bust this soon.
Interesting article. Not necessarily good article, but interesting. With Dorsey, there has also been the question whether you line him up head up on an o-linemen, or in a gap and let him shoot the gap. Chiefs switched system right after they drafted Dorsey, some said he didn't fit the system they switched to.
We have a big client in KC and I spend a good bit of time there. Dorsey was hammered by the public and press his first year but to be fair he was WAY improved his second year. Unfortunately the improvement wasn't enough for media and fans. They thought they were getting much more in Dorsey when they used their top pick to get him. Im not surprised to see this article though. I recently spent a week in KC and the talk show hosts and callers are all focusing on the draft. There was a lot of discussion about recent draft mistakes and I heard quite a few comments critical of LSU players. The media up there is pushing the LSU angle with most of the talk centered around poor conditioning and bad work habits.
Damn their most productive wide receiver over the past 2 seasons is from LSU, and probably would have been a viable pro bowl receiver if not for the suspension. I thought this would have been a Jason Whitlock article because he slammed LSU a year ago, but its by some dude named Kent Babb. Tyson had 1 season, Dorsey has had 2 full, i don't remember too many defensive linemen who were major factors 2 years into their career. They just have to find somewhere to place the blame.
