The safety for Ole Miss—pretty sure he was a RS Frosh, maybe sophomore—told a lot of the picture when the two teams played. He looked like he wanted no part of Fournette. Hell, the back seven looked that way. Combine that "feeling" I had along with the Rebels being a poor tackling team ... well, left me surprised there weren't a half of a dozen long plays like the ones you've referenced. But that's what's confusing about Ole Miss. What were the final numbers? Around 310 rushing with 220 something coming on three plays? Then there were over 30 rushing plays that averaged around three per? All this sticks out to me because (if memory serves correctly) the last time LSU had a player rush for over 20 yards on one play was back in 2010 ... and that wasn't a running back, it was a WR. That game was in BR ... both teams ranked in the top ten at the time as well.
Yep. I was referring to us doing a better job of getting Fournette in space with the ball. Moving guys out of the box. Yes, Alabama is a great team. Yes, Alabama is probably better than us in the trenches. And you guys will probably stuff 80% of our runs for 3 yards or less. But, what we've done the last 3 games is create big plays. And lots of them. With our defense being as good as its been, 3 or 4 25+ yard plays in this game should set us up for points and give us a chance to win.
Gotta keep Allen from going all superman and getting horizontal on Etling. I believe the key is the OL play. I think our defense should be alright.
Well, I had crawfish pasta today and will be making a giant pot of sauce piquant tomorrow. So the mojo coming from San Antonio will be as strong as it can be.
