First commendable that folks are recognizing the effort. Second, before we all start bashing, let's just all admit that most of us thought LSU would lose this game anyway... against a ranked Villanova team on their home court. Feels a lot like the Uconn game a few years back when DMitch missed a three pointer at the buzzer and we lost by one. I agree the way we lost this one was a lot different, but you get the point.

I think the reason why CJ and AR are so effective is much like last year showed us as opposed to the final 4 year, we're more effective with a double post. Our long lanky guys are better on helpside blocks. Once AR fouled out, we really couldn't stop their inside penetration. You can't go zone, b/c Villanova is a guard oriented team with bombers from outside--just go back and watch the guy who hit 2 or 3 threes in their run. I suppose it may have been an interesting call to change up the d, but it's just a guess at that point. When you're up by as many points as LSU was, you d up, play man make them expend some time and not make stupid plays.

The problem is we fouled, turned the ball over, didn't eat up clock on our possessions and missed FTs down the stretch. Overall a pretty crappy way to end the game. That's youth and inexperience and a team learning what it can become. It hurts me, but at the same time, again who thought LSU was going to win before the game? It just hurts more now b/c we had a big lead and let it go.

Where I think Brady is to blame is perhaps making sure that his kids understood the fouling situation and better use of the clock. I saw him on the sideline saying "why foul?" about three times though. Maybe he makes a substitution of Martin for Mason, Thornton or Johnson to get more handlers in there---but Martin's not a particularly good ball handler and is also prone to turnovers and missing FTs.

It's a young team with some talent. At least our d is improving. This game will sting for a while, the key will be can these young kids learn to turn this to a positive and win these kinds of games as the season goes on.

Yeah I did. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but LSU starts CJ and MT as new guys and plays AR, Bo Spencer and Garrett Green as freshmen. Pretty much all new players. So, I think it's young and inexperienced and I would be right.

Not saying that losing is excusable. Just saying that noone expected LSU to win this game tonight, so take this loss with a grain of salt. Let the kids learn from this and see how the season progresses.

    Here is my question.

Did Brady think that he could cash unused timeouts in for starbucks cards or coke rewards points or something????

WHY THE HECK DIDNT WE CALL TIMEOUT WITH 4 SECONDS LEFT WHEN WE CROSSED HALF COURT AND SET UP SOMETHING BESIDES A BRICK TOSS?????

I am embarrassed and confused. I hate both.

i understand that the team is young and that we didn't expect to win the game....

but when you're up by 21 points with a 5th of the game remaining you have to win the game...

also, the team may be young, but the coach isn't...

I've just let this stuff go for way too long... I can't give brady benefit of the doubt any more...

they just blew a 21 point lead with 8 minutes remaining...

The worst part is, when it got down to about 13, I bet half of the board expected to lose the game because NO ONE has any faith in Brady... regardless of what they type on a message board, or the optomistic views they show... NO one has faith in the man

With 4 seconds I'd rather do just the way it happened cause you get the defense off balance...If you call timeout, the defense will come out organized...With 4 seconds basically the only option is a 3 point shot anyway.

Believe me, I acknowledge the fact that this loss the way it went down should not happen. I also agree that coaching could have made a difference. But, acknowledge as well that youth and player mistakes are also to blame.

I won't say that I have no faith in Brady. I will say that Brady isn't the world's best college coach, but nor he the worst. Brady haters will be quick to forget that this guy's beaten #1s, he's beaten Coach K, Olson, Gillipsie, and a bunch of other "name" coaches. People have also seemed to forget that Brady's been to the final four. I also will say that Brady has also shown a penchant for coaching a team through the season, improving them, and having them make runs at the end of the season. It didn't happen last year, but it's happened plenty times before.

So, at a minimum, I'm looking to see how LSU bounces back from this loss given it's the 8th game of the season.

Well, just got back from the Wachovia Center. Yes I got to see the collapse in person. All I can say is...Amazing. I know we are young but it is pretty tough to blow a 21 point lead with 8 minutes to go. Hopefully we can somehow learn from this game and get better. Sure was a tough walk to the truck(probably the only truck in the lot). I was surprised at the number of LSU fans there. Had a good time except for the last 5 seconds.
