Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Reports from weekend activity at the Pango's tourney in Cali are coming out, and it appears LSU is after two GA players making some ripples. 2009 recruit, Brandon Reed, and 2010 recruit, Jalen Kendrick. Both list LSU, but at this time LSU doesn't appear to be the leader for the recruits. I wonder when CTJ and gang will really start to get noticed at these events. Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Well, I guess the cynical view is ... before CJB got canned and CBP left for greener pastures, they were leading with Tommy Mason Griffin, Brandon Mitchell and Keith Gallon. :redface: But, LSU and their fans wanted a change and that's what they got. So you have a new coach, with a completely new coaching staff. A respected coach, but not someone with deep ties to the south. Who is Keith Richard? A former LA Tech head coach that lost his job (he's a BR man, but i haven't seen alot on his rep in BR). Who is Donny Guerioni? A kid that played ball at Nevada and has been with CTJ ever since. I guess bottomline is it's going to take time to establish the new face of LSU basketball. Recruits get this. They also see a squad of some upper classmen, a few talented underclassmen. They're not sure what LSU is going to look like in a year or two. So, likewise, I think it's going to take LSU a year or two before the recruiting gets settled. I think CTJ and staff's short-term goal is to concentrate on coaching up the players they got this year, start to get their name out in the LA high school and southern AAU circuit, and then after they get their feet wet in SEC ball, they can pin point their kinds of recruits. You can say that CTJ isn't a bad recruiter given his track record but every restart takes time. I hope that the kids in LA jumpstart that reshaping of our program... kids like Storm Warren this year, Kourtney Robinson, Brandon Mitchell in '09, Langston Galloway in '10,--they can make a statement by believing in LSU. And to answer your question, the only commitment right now is Brandon Mitchell from Amite, although there was some skuttlebutt after CJB's firing that he was rethinking his commitment. So, really the slate's pretty clean ... :geaux:

Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Trust me, I'm not bothered by short term recruiting difficulty. Enough players knew CJB's character to know they needed to go elsewhere. The basketball practice facility will take care of all that anyway.
