I'd put chances of LSU getting back into it at 5%. When you watch the video (which is nice testament of the guy's aptitude, perhaps), clearly there's loyalty to Cal, but the feeling is that Cousins will open it back up. But, clearly he's a free agent. I think the person that this actually helps the most is Anthony Grant. The reporter mentions schools that might get another look, and specifically mentions 'Bama and Anthony Grant, and Cousins definitely affirms his interest in talking to 'Bama again. Also Kansas St is mentioned by name. LSU doesn't get any love. We'll see what happens.

I personally don't think this should defer LSU from showing attention to Brandon West. Here's a kid with very similar physical stats, and probably a whole better attitude, and is likely to be more than a one and done. I'm still in greater anticipation of Mr. West's grades and score, personally.

Good Grief!!!! There are 28 pages & over 400 replies on this topic & LSU has signed two players!!! Wow, talk about a lot of interest in nothing. I'm just like the rest of you nuts - I check this subject every weekend & usually on Wednesdays or Thursdays when I am around a computer. One would think with all this discussion on this subject there would be more to talk about - result wise I mean... Is there really any hope of LSU getting another good player for 2009? Hope springs eternal I guess... :(

    that's classic.

In our defense TC, this thread started in 2007 pre-brady lay off my friend. So there's been a lot of history on this thread--essentially the CTJ stuff only starts probably about a third of the way back. You go back and read the pages and it starts with the promise of a pretty nice 2009 class, including the likes of Tommy Mason Griffin and Keith Gallon when the Brady bunch was here... who by the way played last night in the McD-AA game on ESPN. Anyone want to share their thoughts? :) TMG looked OK. Keith Gallon has slimmed down and he may be a pretty nice player. Demarcus looked kind of lethargic out there. I think Peyton Siva, going to Louisville, was the best PG.

Anyway, the news today is the topsy turvy coaching carousel continues to wreck havoc on recruiting classes everywhere.

    Latest news today?

Tim Floyd leaving USC to go to Arizona. Wow. Good move obviously for Tim. Neutral for LSU, instead of Floyd trying to steal LSU recruits for a Pac-10 school in L.A., he now does it for a Pac-10 AZ school that is a better "basketball" school. Although, I think ultimately the LA recruits he was going after were more likely drawn to the L.A. lifestyle and hanging out with all of the USC LA football recruits. Hard to say whether the AZ scene will be as appealing to LA recruits. Interestingly, does this news affect Renardo Sidney's decision? Here was another big man that was at some time talking to LSU.

Regardless, CTJ has a lot of competition moving closer to him... the good news is I think there is a stronger border wall going up.

As to your final question, though. A 2009 Spring signing for LSU is a crap shoot. I do think that Trent will sign one more player. Who that is continues to be a mystery. I'm sure the staff is making calls now to various recruits who have been shaken up by all the news. At the same time, they're closely monitoring closer to home options, West (TX), Eackles (VA), D. Foster (OK) and who knows which JUCOs. Marcus Jordan no longer lists LSU.

Well, it appears that we are out of the Rico Pickett sweepstakes, who has scheduled his next visit with UConn. Assuming that goes well, UConn's his leader. That leaves LSU and Tennessee out, with Florida a slight chance still at the FL Juco.

I wonder how that visit to Dallas went/is going this week? :)

Yes, Floyd stays at USC. The sort of "lustre" somtimes even of the "basketball" schools can wear thin. Feels for Arizona, somewhat like it was for UK and Arkansas some years ago. This time, Kentucky got their man. Last time around, they didn't.

Today Dandy Don has a little blurb on hoops recruiting that dovetails what we've been saying in this thread all along. I think depending on Brandon West's grades, he's probably the one spring signing for CTJ. Just hard to see that other options will make the same impact as a 6'10" guy with the physical tools and the size. Plus with 2010 looming, you need room to reload. It also says to me that likely Tas' is staying vs. going and trying to squeeze pro ball in Europe or something less than a NBA draft pick in. Truth is the kid has a chance to go down as perhaps one of the most decorated LSU players of all time, in minutes played, scoring, etc. I've got to think that this means something to him.

We wait for West's academics....

It's really too bad, you'd like to see these kids get their academics in order sooner. If another Mitchell, would have, he might have had a LSU offer :dis: http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/preps/42483872.html

    Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009)

MJ the IInd, has apparently committed to UCF, to join a teammate of his. LSU wasn't in his top 4.

As for Brandon West, still no word. Largely I would presume b/c of his pending academics. But, it's kind of amazing what's going on at this little prep academy in Dallas, God's Academy. Take a look at some of Brandon's teammates.

    http://w3.nbebasketball.com/index.php/more-talent-at-gods-academy/

(Here's a recent photo... anyone care to identify BWest? http://www.fbc-naca.org/artman2/publish/bbdI/index.shtml... If he's one of the taller guys, I'd be doubtful if he was really 6'10" or 250 lb. I'd say he's more like 6'9", 220-230 lb, which still isn't bad  )

I don't know if there's an opportunity to hit that pipeline, but man, CTJ should. When G-town, Ok State, Auburn, Ole Miss and a host of other D-I schools are still scrounging in there for some of these kids, you got to think LSU should be in there. Also, with all of the coach movement, some of these kids from God's academy in the 2010 class are wide open--like this KC Miller kid. Not sure if CTJ is staying true to his 2010 TX recruits, Phil Pressey and Tobi Odeyeji, but LSU needs to be visiting this school more often.

:geauxtige:geauxtige LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. TIED UNC WITH 8 MINUTES TO GO.

And now Orton is asking for a release. It may be a long shot ( I bet he's looking at OK with Griffin leaving) but it won't hurt to put LSU's name back in there. CTJ was recruiting him pretty hard before. Orton has a real nice post game

If Patterson stays for UK there are going to be a beast to deal with!
