Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) You are right, Grant is largely untested. And, ultimately, that's why I'm glad LSU got the more experienced coach and not Grant. But, Grant is likely an upgrade to MG on most accounts, and don't underestimate the kid's ability to do well in AL. As for recruiting N.O., that's certainly Trent's staff's challenge. So, far he seems to be making good progress. But, you also can't solely rely on N.O., because not every good player from N.O. wants to come to B.R. for college. Just been that way for a long time. Now, at least LSU has someone legit who can say, stay in LA and compete for SEC titles and do well on a national stage consistently. But, we've got to get that recruit from TX, MS, GA and AL every so often to smooth out the inconsistencies of recruiting classes in LA. :geauxtige
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Thanks for all the updates guys, I love it... Here's hoping we get someone large & good to play center next year. If not then hopfully the two 6' 10" guys we have will be good enough.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) I hope Grant does get the AL spot... He has the ability to refresh bama basketball... Not that I like bama but when SEC teams are not playing LSU I want them to do well so when LSU beats them the sports world can stop saying the best team in a weak SEC... If he can make another SEC team better im all for it
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Ooops. I spoke too soon. Apparently, according to a new Rivals article today, Rico Pickett has been getting a lot of love from CTJ. Particularly, CTJ is high on Rico Pickett as a scoring guard to replace MT, b/c he likes Rico's experience and ability to step right in. And, Rico may be listening. He has supposedly be trading phone calls with CTJ to schedule a visit to Tigertown. http://lsu.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=928781 Who knows Gumbo... you may be getting your wish .
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Well, while we're on the topic of potential interesting season ending recruiting leads. What about this... Malcolm White, the 6'8" PF So. at SEC Rival Ole Miss but originally from Baton Rouge, is looking to get back closer to home to play ball... Would Andy Kennedy release MW to go to LSU?:dis: http://www.olemisssports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=12840&SPID=739&ATCLID=3701286&DB_OEM_ID=2600 Billy G is OUT as Kentucky's coach. This will be announced in about 2 hours at a press conference. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4021232 Remember, that like the TMG & J'Mison Morgan defections when Brady/Butch turmoil hit LSU's team last year, could there be opportunity for LSU amidst the Gillipsie firing? Remember, that CTJ was in hot pursuit of Daniel Orton, the 6'10" big man out of OK that signed with UK. If UK agreed, he would be available in 2009. Now, getting Orton is certainly a longshot, but this is a kid that already knows CTJ, now he's seen what CTJ can do on the court. OK and OK St are loaded with recruits already, and so going back home may not be an option... Again, long shot, but a question worth asking.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Word is that Calipari is the #1 target and he is interested.... I say we go after Orton hard... If Cal goes good chance he brings Cousins with him
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) I was thinking this right when I read this..he would be a great pickup for post help and played pretty good.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Im really cant wait to see what CTJ has up is sleeve for the April signing period. If we pick up two i hope its one of the three Jenirro Bush, Brandon West or Marquiez Corthton. I really think we could use the bigs but its said that bush can play 1-3 and it be great to have that kind of versatility on any team. If anyone has any kind of inside track on what we may be doing please post!!!! I'm not buying into next year being a rebuilding year, if TAZ stays I'm not going to say we can win the SEC but I think we will be a tournament team. Well lets put it this way you can rebuild and still be good
