Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) I don't know about that. First, I wouldn't get my hopes up b/c RP lists four leaders who aren't LSU (mostly FL schools, and Tennessee, which is his likely leader). Second, I'm not sure he's the saviour. He's a glorified scoring PG, who is getting a lot of flack on the Tennessee boards. Sure, he a JUCO guard with talent, but is he going to fit with in with what CTJ is preaching? Just not sure. In fact, I think that RP's exactly the kind of recruit that DOES NOT want to come to LSU. Can someone like that put the team above himself? Don't want to give the kid a bum rap, but that's at least the stigma. I'd much rather see a kid like Adam Brown, the 6-3 SG JUCO out of TX, or Jenirro Bush, the 6-7 SF JUCO out of AR, get our attention before this kid.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) i know zero about this kid, but with the roster situation for the next two years lsu needs Kansas/uk/uf recruits. im not telling ctj to get him or i'll burn his house down. but it would be sweet if ctj wants him and the kid comes because just as much as post D, next years team needs a shooter
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) I agree this guy is a shoot first pg... If you remember he played for AL that two years ago and last year transferred when he and the coach didn't see eye to eye. We have to quality SEC
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) TG, I'm sure CTJ is selling team to all of these big man recruits who have committed elsewhere as well. I'm sure Cousins, Riley, and Sidney didn't want to hear mess about academics and teamwork. They wanted to hear how they would get promoted to get into the NBA. LSU certainly has the playing time situation right for those kids. No question about that. Unlike maybe some other fans, I'd be OK with a team who struggled to finish .500 in the SEC every year but has a coach who does things the right way; kept kids in school, promoted the program, and was a positive ambassador for the University. We had a coach with an overall losing record in the SEC (3-4 good seasons out of 10) who was a big zero in the previous 3 categories. This program is headed in the right direction. We need to stay the course and get the right kinds of kids.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) So, I think you agree with me, right? :yelwink2: I guess the difference between Cousins and others, and RP, is I don't mind Trent recruiting one and done guys if they do fit the system. RP was recruited by and went to a SEC school, bailed on that school b/c he had some falling out with the coach. Almost sounds a little "Brady-esque" to me, i.e., sounds like some of the knuckleheads that Brady would bring in only to see them leave or not pan out. And, at the end of the day, those kinds of kids end up hurting chemistry more than helping the team. I trust CTJ and defer to him, so if he wants this kid and think he can make it work, fine. But, I just think there are enough question marks, where I'd probably head the other way and find another kid that's more true to the system. I think this is kind of moot anyway, not sure LSU will rise to the top and get a visit.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) According to DD, TJ is very close to getting two players for the 2009 season in the early signing period. If I am reading him right anyway... Does anyone have any idea who the players are???
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) That would not be the early signing period for next season. Your guess is as good as anyone's.
