Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) oh god, are you in a love triangle with alleva and johnson? the team is progressing nicely, but he inherited a team full of seniors, has beaten up on 3 average at best sec teams (except for paltry bama), and got embarrassed by utah. i'll wait to see how they play against a good team (or two or three), and how well ctj recruits, before declaring ctj as the next coach k.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Well, at least he is getting off to a better than average start.. Oh, and already has won more than this team did all of last year with the only real difference being swaping Mitchell for Randall.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) I love what Trent is doing with this team too. I've attended two of the games this year. The first at home against Wazzou and we went over to Oxford last weekend. The one thing that stands out about this team is the way they play defense. Even when these guys are off offensively they really show up on the defensive end of the court. Its becoming quite obvious that if you don't play defense you won't play for Trent Johnson. Gotta love the intensity this team is playing with.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Trent Johnson said on his radio show tonight that he is in Mobile, AL recruiting a big man whose name is household on the recruiting ranks. It's obviously Demarcus Cousins.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Interesting. As the world turns for sure. I think DC is a long shot for sure tho'. But, you see him on tape, and Cousins really would fill a huge need for us. Trent's smart to at least meet the guy, as Mobile has had a history of LSU landing their finest athletes.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Would love to have a big time talent like Cousins, but you get the feeling he would be one and done no matter how his freshman year went.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Yeah, not sure what to think of guys like Sidney or Cousins. Part of me says these guys would fill a hole ASAP at LSU and really help. The other part of me says that yes, they are one and done, what have you done for me lately, players. The reality of college today is, though, if you want to win a NC you need a few impact players. You'd love to see those guys nurtured and homegrown a few years in a system, ala Xavier, but that's not what goes on at UNC, Memphis, Kansas, UCLA, etc. I think Riley as a signee, would develop nicely with a two or three years at LSU. Cousins and Sidney would be looking to make the jump as soon as possible--but perhaps Trent could work with them for a couple of years. Sidney looks more like a 4, and Cousins plays a little more aggressively down low. Not sure how seriously either is taking CTJ. But, I think if CTJ can stay in front of them, and LSU is a NCAA tourney team come end of the season, anything can happen.
