Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) I would say LSU is in the lead or he wouldn't be rethinking his commit last week to OSU.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Could anyone give a quick summary of the three guys that have been being discussed here in the last 10 or so posts? The posts have gotten a little choppy and I am now confused who is who. Thanks.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Most of Coach Trent Johnson's 2008-9 recruiting efforts have seemed to focus in on three guys: 6-4 SG Aaron Dotson from Seattle. Who would add a true shooting guard to the mix of players, after several of them graduate, namely Garrett Temple, Terry Martin and Marcus Thornton. 6-6 JUCO SF Brad Reese from FL. More of a shooting wing then a guard, but has a nice shot from outside. 6-7-8 PF (but might play SF in college) Eddie Ludwig from LA. He's got a nice shot, can play a little inside and has nice ball skills, although he's not the classic "athletic" wing that LSU tends to favor. But, he's a LA kid and arguably the best LA talent "left on the board". The common theme here is that after this season, most of our experience in the backcourt, especially in the shooting guard position, is gone. Hence, Trent focusing on scorers. Any of these guys would come in and get very decent playing time. Aside from these three, the two other most thrown out names are Dexter Fields, a 6-2 SG/PG from FL who is visiting at the end of the month, and Latavious Williams, a 6-7-8 SF/PF who's in prep school in MD (who probably plays bigger than Ludwig, but is less of an outside threat) but has connections to Mississippi and played on the same AAU team as Chris Bass. Right now, it's hard to say if any of these guys are LSU's to lose. What's clear to me is that folks are willing to visit LSU and hear what Trent has to say. Whether they jump up and down with excitement and commit is another matter. Dotson has now dropped Miami and added Wake Forest as a visit (which doesn't bode well for the Tigers to be competing with Louisville and Wake). Reese's decommitment from OK State seems to be good news for LSU. Ludwig has always been somewhat lukewarm on the Tigers. We may land Reese, and perhaps there's still Fields and Williams out there, I think Trent would be happy with three signees this year. I haven't lost hope that Dotson is serious about LSU, and I think Trent is high on Dotson as well, but it seems that LSU is the measuring stick by which the other schools have to shoot at and make a more immediate impression.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Let's hope it's good news. He seems to be done with his visits, and he finished off with Texas Tech and Lubbock. Couldn't have beat Tiger town! Any word on how Ludwig's visit at Davidson went? That I believe was also his last visit, unless some other school like Vandy got into the mix (don't think they have). Interestingly, LSU was in early on the big man Bawa Muniru. Rivals reports that Indiana is now giving the big man a lotta love. But, his academic situation is up in the air. "Center Bawa Muniru of Wilson (N.C.) Charis Prep will officially visit Bloomington. The NCAA recently announced that the school is in a "not-cleared decision" state. Translation: "Core courses, grades and graduation records from Charis Prep will not be used when determining prospective student-athletes' initial eligibility to compete in intercollegiate athletics." Don't know if this is part of why LSU is no longer in the picture, but perhaps Trent backed off of this guy because of it. Let's hope some good news starts rolling this week... :thumb:
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) So, this just in from Rivals (and let's hope it's good recruiting momentum! ) Brad Reese reported to Tigerbait that it's down to two schools... LSU and Texas Tech. Sounds like Asst Coach Keith Richards is largely responsible for this recruitment and it's weekly (or more often) discussions... http://lsu.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=854138 Let's hope that this one turns out well. If he's choosing between B.R. or Lubbock, I like our chances (just have him talk to Terry Martin, right?). Secondly, it looks like another '08 offer was given and this time to a big man. Deniz Kilicli is a 6'9", 250 Euro- PF that has an offer from LSU (among many others including Kentucky). http://lsu.rivals.com/content.asp?cid=853826 Looks like a long shot, but who knows?
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) What the scoop on this guy? Ive seen tidbits in the past but there isnt a whole lot of information out there.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Does anyone know much about Brad Reese? For some reason im not real excited about him. I think it would be nice to pull Trenton Marshall an La guy who some say is the 1# juco guy
