Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Man I would love to land Dotson, I know this years class wont be as large as next years but that would be awesome.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) http://louisianastate.scout.com/a.z?s=107&p=9&cfg=bb&c=4&yr=2009 Aaron Dotson has a top 3. It's us versus Louisville and Miami. Also, if you check Bawa Munuri's page on Scout, he now lists only UCLA and Vandy, but neither have offered. Just thought that it was odd. I doubt he cut us and Louisville, 2 schools that actually have offered. EDIT: To answer the question earlier about who we want to fill the scholarships. 1. Aaron Dotson - Play him at wing at first until he developes a good enough shot to play SG. Lots of potential. 2. Dexter Fields - I read up on this guy and am absolutely convinced he could be a good one for LSU. Honestly, I'd play him at PG. He's described as 'bull-tough', attacks the rim ferociously, and has a wicked handle. 3. Latavious Williams - PF or SF, he'll start from day 1. PLEASE get this guy! 4. Bawa Munuri/Kyryl Nblahblahblah - Big guy to fill the lane. 5. Darrington Hobson/Brad Reese - Smooth shooters with size.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Interesting list. I note that you have no LA players on there, which may be fine from a pure "best talent available" standpoint, but concerns me from an overall messaging standpoint. Clearly, I think some of these guys would be great at LSU, and you can at a minimum see that Trent is leaning a little bit more to perimeter players at this point. Now Scout has pulled Bawa's page... Not sure that I see Vandy or UCLA all over Bawa. One, UCLA already has plenty of big man depth (Keefe, Morgan, etc.) and Vandy has never used its big man to suit Muniru's game--they tend to gravitate to softer, European style bigs who drift and shoot the three. Bawa would be best served working with LSU's defensive and running game. He could easily be another LSU lottery pick on the frontline. Also, another tidbit is I believe he attended the same school in AL that recent womens' commit, Adrienne Webb, attended. Wonder if they know each other... Scout also reports now that Eddie Ludwig has received offers from Cal (new player in the mix) and Davidson, and will be taking visits to both. So, with those three visits, LSU will have competition. Looks like Eddie comes to LSU in the middle between Cal and Davidson, on September 6th. So, he'll be here the same weekend that Aaron Dotson will be.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Just thought I'd post, that with the visits kicking off this weekend, Rivals has articles about both Brad Reese (visiting LSU) and Eddie Ludwig (visiting Cal). Hard to tell how much either of these kids are treating LSU. Eddie is definitely giving LSU lip service b/c his sister goes here and he's familiar with the school, but at the same time clearly interested in Montgomery at Cal, Davidson, Vanderbilt and Wake. We're Brad's first visit, which often doesn't bode too well, but he at least has some familiarity with LA. He wraps up with 'Bama late, and they were also first to sort of jump on him. It's wait and see, I suppose...
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) So, with all of the Gustav stuff going on, I wonder what happens to the recruits planning official visits this weekend? They still come, but there's no football game to tack on to the festivities? Or, do they reschedule as well. This was the weekend that Eddie Ludwig was to do his official. Also, Scout is following up with Brad Reese on his visit. Can't read the full article, but generally the response was positive (what's he going to say, right?)--but no commitment clearly. http://louisianastate.scout.com/a.z?s=107&p=8&c=1&nid=3911814
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Trenton Marshall decommitted from OK State and lists LSU on scout. He's a 4star
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Ludwig's visit will happen this weekend, and he's accompanied by 2010 prospects Matt Derenbrecker and Langston Galloway. There's and article on Tigerbait.com about it.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Something big might be happening here. Mike Scarborough pulled said article until after Hurricane Ike hits, so he can regather from his sources exactly who will be there. He also said someone else might make the trip, and he added a wink. Anyone who has rivals and follows tigerbait.com knows that the wink is a sign of something big to happen, likely a commitment. EDIT: Here's his post exactly. I don't think this violates the rules, since it basically says why he took the story down.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) I hope you're right, 'chokes. It looks like this all stacks up with Aaron Dotson also coming to town, according to Rivals: http://lsu.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=848587 When you read the article Dotson makes it sound like he's really high on CTJ just b/c of his WA roots and the relationship between Trent and Dotson's high school coach. Here's to hoping that the weekend plays out well with many of these recruits who are high on LSU basketball. As for the big man, Bawa Muniru, it looks like according to Rivals the picture is becoming more clear for him and LSU looks to be falling by the way side a little bit. http://lsu.rivals.com/content.asp?cid=849169 Despite LSU's offer and early looks from Muniru, his official visits at this point are going to be Louisville, Indiana and Oklahoma. Not sure if LSU is backing off on bigs, but the only other big guys rumored to be in LSU's sights are Daniel Orten (a top big man who is a long shot) and the European kid from FL, Natyazkho, who has yet to get an offer. I've been reading, and speculating, that perhaps Johnson's staff who has had a chance to see some of the players play think that the frontline of the future might be decently bright with both Garrett Green and Dennis Harris at 6'10" and growing?
