Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Yeah, Austin radio is reporting that TMG has named Oklahoma, Texas and Memphis as leaders. But, going to Oak Hill may open him up to ACC schools too. In any case, it's interesting that he didn't give Butch any love at Oklahoma St. (I thought he was talking to them), and apparently him and "Tiny" Gallon are not a package deal (as Keith lists Miss St as his leader). In any case, I think TMG will be a pretty decent player, and is serious about honing his game. It's a shame we couldn't make him stick with LSU.... But, we'll see what CTJ has up his sleeve. He doesn't have too long a runway. He needs to reload this next year so he has guys to play with in '09. He'll have Tasmin, Bo Spencer, and a bunch of other unproven kids (at least as of now). He loses Garrett, Chris Johnson and Marcus Thornton. Still waiting to see what "kind of kid" is Trent's kid here.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) http://rivalshoops.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=815949 Kourtney Roberson committed to Texas A&M. Where the **** is Trent?
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) I thought you said it was early ! :sob: Seriously though, Kourtney R had never listed LSU as far as I could tell. So, I don't know how much of this is some kids just want to leave the state or it's something about LSU/CTJ. Clearly, the kids in the state don't know what CTJ is all about. It kills me though that these kids think TA&M is some kind of hoops school over LSU. Kills me. But, it is troubling that CTJ made it a point to say that recruiting LA was going to be a priority, and as far as I know, he's not out there. Granted it may take time and a year or two, but wow, here is your best LA big man going out of state... again. :angryfire
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Ok, so if you're looking at this as a glass half full scenario, let's also remember that Storm Warren committed to Baylor last year before changing his mind and coming back to LSU. Maybe it's a little different b/c of LSU's pursuit of Greg Monroe last year, but I can hope right? Kourtney did recently list LSU (according to Rivals), but I don't know if he was offered, or what his deal with LSU is. I think again, the jury's still out on CTJ, what kind of kids he's looking for and how he appeals to LA talent. The thing that is, good or bad, about CTJ is when you read his quotes, hear him in interviews, he's a "no I in team" kind of coach. Old school, does thing for the school and the team. I have a feeling that the "best" recruits in today's game don't necessarily jive with that kind of coaching--they either want to go somewhere that puts them on a spotlight for the one and done, or they want to go somewhere where they're guaranteed the PT. You'd think that at some level, the fact LSU's brought in a guy who's proven, charismatic H-C, CTJ should be embraced by the LA hoops community... but it's not apparent yet. Hard to understand. Folks on this board would have had you believe that folks around LA HATED CJB... so CTJ should be a breath of fresh air, right?
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Butch grabs his 1st recruit that he persued while at LSU, Trent Marshall. He is a Miss JUCO prospect who was being recruited by LSU, Ole Miss, OSU, and Miss St. Do not know much about the guy or our chances with him with Butch not on staff but I expect a few more of these down the line. Would have liked to keep Butch for this reason but Trent gets his own staff which is more important. NewsOK Mobile
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Eddie Ludwig 6'7 195 will be in for an unofficial visit this weekend hoping to get an offer. Sounds like he will and he wants to be a Tiger. Loves the new staff and he could play the 3 or 4 spot. He scored 31 points in the semis to beat Kourtney Roberson's team. Eddie was the Class A MVP and playing on the Louisiana Select AAU team this summer.
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Good info, bhelm. That is outstanding. This kid sounds awesome. More impressive from my perspective? The kid's from N.O. and is liking our staff. If there's any hope to cornering LA, Trent has got to make a dent in N.O. This kid can score and at 6'7" will be a very talented wing in Trent's system. Ludwig's 33 points, 12 rebounds push Country Day into 1A finals | HS GameTime.com | Top Stories http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/preps/16746951.html Love it! Trent and staff are coming out of the cave!
Re: Hoops Recruiting (2009) Wow! I hope we intend to play him at the wing spot. Can he shoot the 3-ball well? We could use a tall, sweet-shooting wing.
