BS Pete graduated well before that (67 or 68) Arkansas was in the Southwest Conference when Pete was in school.
Pete's last season was 69-70. I was at the game that he scored 69. Don't remember which year but it was vs Alabama. He scored 42 in the second half. He also had a 64 point game vs Kentucky. I think it was on the road. Dale Brown looked at the shot chart from that game and said the if they had 3 point shots then it would have been 76.
Not sure what your "BS" is saying. Yes, it was a long time ago (believe it or not). I was an undergraduate when I last saw an LSU basketball game in person, so it had to be between 1968 - 1970. Incidentally, Pistol Pete tenure at LSU was, freshman team in 1966-67 and Three-year Varsity letter winner from 1967-1970. http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=177319 By far, my favorite part of the game in question was at the very end. LSU was up (I don't remember by how many) and with just around twenty seconds left, Pistol Pete put on a dribbling show as only he could alluding opposing player after player and then in the last few seconds, put up a looooong shot from near mid-court that swished in. We all went wild...! Back in those days, there was no "three pointer." Any other old timers remember that game?
No one said that Pete was at LSU in 76. I was merely quoting a previous poster who said that his last game was in 76 and answering his "truth or dare" by posting my last in person game.
Good win. Little shaky at times in the last 45 sec or so. We kept fouling and had a couple of near-misses with turnovers, but we got the job done. GEAUX TIGERS!!!
