The guy gets the most he can out of his players. Its the reason hes there. Wanted players we (VCU) will never get to do bigger things.
Next challenge is to play at a high level when people know you're going to be good. When you're not "sneaking up" on anybody. It's the next step in the maturation process.
That was some pistol Pete passing on about 4 plays. The ability to see everything on the court at all times is a very rare skill but amazing to watch. Combined with his dribbling ability to slice up a defense/ break a press is impressive. Hopefully he's too small for scouts to worry about.
You can't teach instinct bit some of those Pistol Pete skills could be taught. But high school and lower coaches don't. I used to have the Pistol Peye Homework Basketball series made by Pete himself. 4 DVD's on shooting, dribbling, passing and ball handling. When my nephew was playing in the 5th grade I offered his coach to copy them and give it to him. He wasn't interested. That same night a black kid on the other team made monkeys out of his white boys using those kinds of skills.
Just think the basketball program has officially replaced the football program in terms of excitement level. This coach is for real. One of the most impressive wins you'll ever see from a team who came off an emotional last second hard fought victory on the road just 4 days earlier.
