I think when it’s said and done, Reid would be better suited as a forward than as a classical center. footwork has to improve more than anything, but I don’t think he has the demeanor to be a difference maker in the post.
He's really tall and skinny, his touch is better away from the basket than it is in the paint so yeah, park his ass outside the arc and let him shoot. He isn't doing us any favors down low.
There are a lot of young coaches out there that would love a shot to coach at LSU and would do a much better job. Look at a young coach like Richie Riley at South Alabama. He won't be there much longer because a big time D1 program is going to grab him. He took over a program that was a complete dumpster fire three years ago and has returned the program to respectability. In fact, one of his key players is Manning who was at LSU last year. Earlier this season, South Alabama came very close to beating Alabama and Wichita State on the road. My point is not just about winning, but seeing the team improve over time. I can honestly say I can't remember one player/team under WW's coaching that I can say improved as the season progressed. A prime example is 7-foot, freshman, 5-star center Efton Reid, who came in as the next great LSU big man. Reid has been an absolute disappointment because of WW's coaching, or lack of coaching. Reid, more times than not, looks more like a two-star and that sad to see. You can't just roll the ball out and expect your team to win because they were 4 and 5 stars in high school. At some point, coaching matters!
