WW chokes another one away. Double digit favorites and LSU almost loses by double digits. So what's the excuse this time? The reality is WW is basketball's version of Jimbo Fisher in college football. It doesn't matter how much talent you recruit because when your coach isn't that good, talent is only going to get you so far! Clearly, Jimbo and WW know how to pay players, but it's even more clear that they have no clue how to coach them once they get on campus.
The reality is LSU will always be a football school and basketball will always be second, third or fourth down the list. If LSU fans are content with that, I say keep him. If LSU wants to compete regularly for conference titles and make deep runs in the NCAA, then he needs to be replaced. I don't want to hear about LSU winning the last three years because the league has been down. The normal BB powerhouse schools like Kentucky and Florida haven't been strong in a few years. I don't want to hear about injuries because all teams have injuries. Can you name one school LSU has played against that had more talent in the last three years? I can't name one. Can you name a school that LSU was clearly more talented than, but still lost? I can name several. No one ever talks about WW and his coaching because he's simply not a great in-game manager. LSU wins because they have more talent and should win or they are extremely hot that night. WW himself just admitted that he allowed players to take whatever shots they wanted and that he had to take more control over their shot selection. What D1 coach allows his players to shot any shot they want? WW does and you can see it in their play. Too many LSU fans get caught up in the 5-star players he brings in and forgets you have to do some coaching when they get on campus.
