Didn’t we get smoked by Bama last year? I could see that happening again. They aren’t throwing bricks. We struggle with layups.
interesting artilcle on the state of the program https://www.si.com/college/lsu/basketball/lsu-basketball-best-position-future wade says his data analytics led him to pinson and eason. i think there are only two players at risk for transfer, colbert and ezewiro. but two real stars are inbound in julian phillips and devin ree. i am sensing a pattern in wade's preferred player type. length and effort. fudge and gaines. long arms and a motor. the thing i am most curious about for the future is how this season goes for eason and reid, and whether they think they will be drafted and go.
Eason looks like a NBA player right now. Keep working on the jump shot. Reid… so much potential, hope he stays and develops his game. Can’t teach 7 ft and the athleticism he has at his size. He looked closer to Shaq than Simmons running the fast break, except for weight. His jump shot needs work, his post game could improve. We play fast, aggressive, above the rim, but jump shots are so weak and half-court in general is stagnant.
Eason needs a lot of work on his jumper. Attacks the rim well, but he has to make defenders respect his range. Also agree on Reid; he would benefit from another year. Has to work on overall strength. He needs some more upper body strength or he will get pushed around in the association. Leg strength as well. He can get up but just not enough explosion off the floor.
from a Seth Davis article in the athletic: • Undefeated LSU finally played a road game, and it looked pretty darn good in whooping Georgia Tech, 69-53. The Tigers have arguably the best sixth man in America in 6-8 sophomore forward Tari Eason, who leads the team in scoring (15.6 points per game) and ranks second in rebounds (7.7). Eason, who transferred from Cincinnati, had his best week of the season while combining for 43 points, 11 rebounds, seven steals and five blocks in wins over Ohio and Georgia Tech. It’s hard to tell just how good LSU is because its nonconference schedule has been kind of meh, but we’ll find out in a hurry when SEC play opens on Dec 29 with seven straight games against the top teams in the league. It’s gonna be a very interesting January in Baton Rouge.
northwestern, latech and lipscomb coming up. will have a gaudy undefeated record going into the 7 straight monsters. i would be elated with 5-2 over that stretch. go 5-2 and that will leave them at 17-2 with some easier SEC teams coming. that would be magnificent and should lead to a 4 seed even 4-3 isnt heartbreaking. 7 straight ranked teams! january will be wild
