of course, lets only speculate that bad things will happen, and when good things are discussed, lets not get ahead of ourselves, suddenly speculation about the future is less fun. if we cant imagine failure, lets just not imagine at all.

We are 5-7 in Q1 wins. Our next two games are at NET 23 Arkansas and hosting 22 Alabama.

Our last Q1 win occurred after our mid-season slide at 66 ATM on 2/8. Before that it was at 4 UK on 1/4 (depleted), hosting 8 TENN on 1/8 (who turned around and beat the brakes off us soon after), and at 51 FU on 1/12.

We are 1-6 in Q1 games since the slide, with a loss hosting 110 Ole Miss (Q3) and at 91 South Carolina (Q2) sprinkled in (which effectively puts us at 1-8).

I am naturally pessimistic, but those numbers are no reason for optimism, particularly considering our offense has been bad all year (with and without Pinson).

Reality looks like a good shot to finish 1-8 in Q1 (effectively 1-10). If we could split at least that puts our last Q1 win closer than a month before the end of the regular season and our last top 25 Q1 win closer than 2 months before the end of the regular season.

I’ll be waiting with bated breath.

So we should win, no problem.

I guess if you weren’t saying that you were saying LSU would be seeded higher, or maybe I didn’t understand what your point was.

i was saying the NET ranking for LSU, there was no implied point straw man for you to intuit.

you listed our opponents NET, i listed ours.

well if our NET is better than these next opponents, that a good thing.

yeah but basketball has two parts, offense, and defense as well. its the defense that has kept them afloat, and a lock for a tournament bid.

some people think any season that ends in a tourney bid is pretty good (your metric for program success remains a closely guarded secret). half the teams in the SEC wont get a ticket to the dance.

I think this Arkansas game is huge for LSU. I could see LSU playing them tough and losing a close one, but there's a real possibility that Arkansas could run away with it also. Teams like LSU are auditioning for seedings and a bad loss to Arkansas could drop them a good bit. It's always tough to win at Arkansas, but they are playing really well and they have a great coach. If LSU gets off to a slow start, this game could be over by halftime. I hope not, but they're really playing well right now and a big win could also bolster their seeding in the tournament.

If we make the tournament and don’t win 1 more game this year I guess that’s still a decent low water mark.

Let’s see, maybe sweet 16 every 2 years, tournament almost every year, elite 8 every 5 years, final 4 every 8 years. That would be much better than ever before. I really want to win NCs.

I think NIL might screw up all that, though.

For the record, I’ll be disappointed if we don’t win another meaningful game all year and think this is WW’s worst job coaching.

unlike other years LSU just doesn’t feel very competitive.
