I would absolutely trade WW for Kermit Davis! In his 24 years of coaching, Davis has a 62% winning percentage, won 8 conference titles, 6 conference tournaments and taken six teams to the NCAA Tournament. All of this was accomplished with a lot less talent than what WW has at his disposal. Enough said. For you, it's all about winning because you're just a normal LSU basketball fan and that fine. I look at how a coach prepares his team, coaches them during the game, makes adjustments during the game and how does the team/players progress/improve throughout the season. WW is below average in all of the areas and it shows on the court. Unlike most coaches, WW makes excuses like injuries or his team isn't getting a fair shake from the refs. The reality is every team has injuries and most teams also think they were wronged by refs when they lose. The difference is good coaches make adjustments to overcome those obstacles, unlike WW who uses them as an excuse to cover up his poor coaching.
wade has had a higher winning percentage everywhere he coached. why do you think that is data in favor of davis? so davis is a bad recruiter? why is that good? your man davis has a worse record and according to you, recruits less talent. you are making points in my favor. the goal of the game is winning. so for you you dont care if the team wins or loses, you want a coach like kermit davis that recruits bad players, wins less than wade, but according to you is helping them improve during the losses? i ask yet again, can you describe the metric by which you judge a successful program, and do you think ole miss is more successful than LSU right now?
lemme give you a litte more data: in two years at chatanooga, wade was never worse than second. in two years at VCU he won one title and finished second once. so in those 4 years, never worse than second. he never missed the tournament at VCU. then he came to LSU, took over a disaster, and since his first year, finished no worse than 3rd in the SEC, including a conf title. he has not missed the NCAA tournament since his first year, and never missed postseason play. but you want to trade him for kermit davis, who made the tournament 3 years ago and has never finished in the top 5 in the SEC.
Clearly, you are just an average basketball fan and an avid WW supporter that doesn't understand the interworkings of how a basketball program is run. The reality is this: Davis gets more out of less talent and WW gets less out of more talent! So go put your purple sunglasses on and grab your WW pom poms and enjoy today's game.
but the goal is wins right? who wins more? why would you prefer the coach who cant recruit talent? why would you want less talent? dont you want wins? i see, i think i understand your motivation here, you want to think of yourself as sophisticated. you want to tell people that when you watch the games you see the X's and Os better. i get it. but you dont want to admit that winning is better. very silly.
Whatever you say, but you might want to remind WW about the importance of winning because they have lost 5 of 6 and now sit in a 4-way tie for sixth place in the SEC with 9 games left in the season. Of those 9 games, five are on the road where LSU and WW are 0-3 in their last three away games. WW is such a good coach that he has the Tigers in the perfect spot to be a high seed in the tournament. Just hurry up and go grab your purple sunglasses and WW pom poms and enjoy the game!
I've come to the realization that this team just sucks. Not a coach in history that can do anything with this bunch, they are terrible. All of them!
