LSU CATCHER KADE SCIVICQUE ON LATEST JOHNNY BENCH AWARD WATCH LIST WICHITA, Kan. – LSU senior Kade Scivicque is on the new watch list released Tuesday for the 2015 Johnny Bench Award, given annually by the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission to the nation’s top Division I catcher. The watch list will be narrowed down to the semifinalists, whom will be announced on May 14. Ballots will be sent to the national voting panel at the end of May for a vote to determine the three finalists. The finalists will be announced on June 2, and a final vote among the national committee will occur during the College World Series. Scivicque, a product of Maurepas, La., is LSU’s leading hitter this season, batting .386 (49-for-127) with 11 doubles, four homers, 27 RBI and 19 runs scored. He has the Tigers’ third-highest slugging percentage (.567), and he has struck out just nine times all season. Behind the plate, Scivicque has thrown out 12 base runners attempting to steal. Scivicque batted .421 (8-for-19) in five games last week with two doubles, four RBI and one run. He extended his hitting streak to 20 games, the longest by an LSU player since 2013, when shortstop Alex Bregman had a 23-game hit streak. Scivicque is batting .382 (34-for-89) during the 20-game streak with seven doubles, one homer and 16 RBI. Former LSU catcher Brad Cresse won the Johnny Bench Award in 2000 after helping lead the Tigers to the College World Series title.
I've seen better T-Ball players. Only lasted about two innings. Don't have the box score, the last I saw it was 10-1.
