offense looked sluggish defense was lights out, pitching was very good,we will see second game with a freshman starter.
Re-watched todays 5th inning. Went through 3 pitchers, bat through the order+ AND got a look at a freshman DH at the plate. Hitting a lot of different pitches all over the zone. That was an impressive inning. Freshman pitcher looked real good and although Kansas refused to go quietly, young arm got composed and finished em off. So far, these young pitchers are as advertised. Young tiger got his first hit at his first at bat in the Box. Stellar defense all around and no errors recorded yet on the weekend. All told, a fine couple days of some Tiger Baseball. It's early, but who doesn't love them some dominate baseball? Be nice to just go ahead and sweep them jayhawks.
the only thing that concerns me is pm always pulls a pitcher doing well,i understand giving his other pitchers a shot but i think that's alan dunn's decision to pull a pitcher if he is in trouble. If we can get a reliable closer then i think the sky is the limit for this pitching staff, but if we would have kept mac marshall wow what a staff.
True, however this has been his M/O all along, sort of the opposite of skip who always left them in too long
Even Skip didn't leave them in a long time in the early part of the season. Only later when the games got important. For their first efforts this year CPM is limiting starters to a pitch count of roughly 70. That will increase game by game until they reach about 100 or more. Last year was the same even with Aaron Nola. At the end of the season Nola would throw up to 115 pitches in a game but usually less because he was so efficient with hitting the strike zone.
