The first seven innings were like watching a replay of UCI game one. It was like we couldn't buy a base hit. White wasn't throwing junk ball like the UCI kid either. I don't know...it was just weird watching the team tonight. It was hard to believe that they had 24 hits in their last game. Why the awkward changes with the bullpen? Martin was almost laughing as he left the mound. Anyway....not a good game. If we play well, and just get beat by a better team..so be it. We just weren't in it offensively, or defensively tonight. Hopefully things go a little better against Rice. They're going to try and make a statement after the beating they took today. They've got very solid pitching also. Man, it sure would have been nice to get a shot at Fresno St. I don't think they have a solid pitcher left on their twenty five man roster. UNC should sail past them....oh well.
I think Mainieri knowing there was a possibility of having to come out of the loser's bracket didn't want to overuse anybody.
The other thing it did was give all the pitchers that are going to have to succeed a chance to throw. Every bit of experience is needed in a venue like Rosenblatt.
I would say that is right on the money. We are going to need what little depth we have, in order to make any type of push in this tournament. I think that the team had early jitters and really got behind the 8 ball. The 1st inning pretty much was the big difference in the game. Their pitching was just that much better than ours. It isn't like we got slapped around, we just let the 1st few innings get us behind. A few bad plays in the outfield and better pitching in the early part of the game, and this thing may have had a different outcome. I really like our chances against Rice. I don't see us going 2 and out, as we did the last 2 times.:geaux: :tigbas: :LSU231: Bottom line is that who amongst us isn't just proud that we are there.:geaux:
yep. in general, LSU was too aggressive at the plate. at least go deep in the count and get him out of there by the 6th.
I think we have a good chance to beat Rice tomorrow. What I was discouraged with yesterday was our base running. To many times, when we did get a base runner, we were way to conservative. Either the base coaches didn't want to risk a runner getting thrown out with aggressive running, or they were relying to much on the long ball. It almost felt like once we would get a runner o the bases we would just expect to have then next batter go yard. We can't rely on that every time.... Tuesday.....1PM..... Game On!!!! :geauxtige:geauxtige :geauxtige:geauxtige
