Disappointing start all around. Nola had a much better second inning, but I'm hoping the bats come to life...

HBP and a fielding error gets 2 runners on for MSU, but we hold it down from there.
Still 0-5 going into the bottom of the 4th

Rhymes gets a nice single, Ross hits into a DB. Nola out quickly. End of the 4th

We're getting the leadoff man on, but haven't been able to bring him home

since the 1st, Nola has been perfect other than a single and a hit batter. just knocked em down 1 2 3 in 5th. after 5, he has 5 Ks

Ate up with the snakebit today, it's been rugged to watch

After allowing runners on 2nd and 3rd w/ no outs, the Tigers manage to hold MSU to 1 run

0-6 going to the bottom of the 6th

    some notes on Miss State:

--#3 in the SEC with 8 CWS appearances ("Elite Eights"), last in 2007 -- only LSU (15) and South Carolina (10) have more

--since 2000, four Super Regional ("Sweet Sixteen") appearances, last was last season

--coach John Cohen, who played baseball for Miss State in the late 80's, is in his 4th year as Miss State coach (and he's brought in Top 25 recruiting classes each year there). before Miss State, he was 175–112–1 in 5 years as coach of Kentucky (including winning their only SEC Championship in the history of their baseball program) and before that he was 146–84 in four years as coach of Northwestern State in Louisiana (including two conference championships)

Haven't had any luck stringing hits together at the right time, but at least the bats have been waking up. I'd be a lot more worried if we weren't getting any hits at all...

they are leaving this guy in for the 9th inning to go for the complete game...and he does it...allowing only 1 run on 10 hits

he now has a 7-0 record over the last 2 seasons

    impressive

Well phooey :/ We won the series and have some positives to take from this, but hopefully will shake off today's lackadaisical performance.

Congrats to Kentucky for sweeping South Carolina and moving to a perfect 21-0 I believe...
