And JayB, we've actually got a Morgan City product on the team! Although I really don't see young Mr. Dozar contributing too much on the field this year, he is a quality kid, and CPM will love having him on the team.

Grant's a cool kid. I don't see him contributing too much for a good while though. Too much talent at LSU right now. It's hard to see how he fits in on this team, but his bat may contribute some. He's a fine athlete though, and CPM may be able to polish him into a gem. I'm excited to get to see him play at LSU. I followed him from when he was running around the neighborhood as a little kid, to when he was playing at MCHS. I remember when he came up to my waist, he would still kill us all in basketball.

Sometimes when I need a good laugh I watch the end of the LSU-Ole Miss tourny final from last year, and watch CPM scream like a little girl when he got the full brunt of a Gatorade bath during the post-game interview.

Seriously, he is a great coach and I'm really looking forward to the season.

While I'm not about to take CajunPunk's hardline stance on baseball, I have to disagree.

In my heart, football blows away any other sports.

However, I absolutely love LSU baseball, too. I started being a fan in '92, when I was a senior at LSU. I bought season tickets from then until when I moved from Baton Rouge in '97. Many great times were had at the Box.

Well you can watch football not knowing anything about the sport and it would still be entertaining. That's not it with baseball. You actually have to have a decent understanding of the sport.

I've been fortunate to watch a lot of games with a friend of mine who has played and coached baseball for most of his life to fill me in on some of the finer strategic elements. Being a football/basketball guy personally, baseball can be a little bit of a chess game for the uninitiated.

I've never thought about it like that but I think you are right. I could always convince girl friends to come with me to a football game, even the spring game! But not many were willing to come to the baseball games. If they did they were completely bored by the third inning and wanted to leave. Probably the reason I would sit with my Dad... Remind you these girls knew very little about either sport but the entertainment value is certainly higher with football.

Another sport with great entertainment even if you don't know the rules- minor league hockey. I use to go to Kingfish games knowing nothing about the rules of icing just to watch fights break out between the Kingfish and NOLA Brass. :thumb:

It absolutely is, which is what I love so much about it. Football is king with me, too, but baseball is definitely a close second. No other game has an element so uniquely identifying as the pitcher is to baseball. Match-ups are crucial, and it's hard to explain the suspense created by certain counts or base runner positioning. When should you expect a squeeze? hit and run? intentional walk?

I think that's why I have never been a huge basketball fan. I just don't understand the game to the same level of detail. I mean, I see the fouls, I recognize zone and certain plays, just not all of the nuances. I never played basketball, though, which would probably explain it.
