That's the part I don't understand. You're defense has worked to perfection the entire game and you change everything for the last drive. The exact same thing with the exact same results as two years ago. I have always hated prevent D especially when your D has played lights out all night.
The blitzes were delayed and came from too far off the edge........if they don't get "there", they don't' get "there". The pressure needed to come up the middle and it never did. The greater "sin" was a complete failure to guard the sideline IMO. To ALLOW a team with NO TIMEOUTS to run 9 plays in 51 seconds is unforgivable. The fact that "he" did the same crap 2 years ago means we are not getting our money's worth. If you ain't first, you are last.
I'm never one to say that anything fishy is going on with the refs. I've heard it for years on here, specifically about this game. But this year has at least made me open to that. I'm not saying others were wrong in years prior. I just didn't want to step in that. But, this guy below always seems to officiate this game, and I think he's been the head ref several times for this game. After last night, combined with everything else, I'm left thinking that there is definitely something fishy with this ref in particular. I'll post a pic of the ref here in a bit. You all probably know, by his face, who I am talking about.
Of course the game wasn't lost due to the refs. I doubt you were even referring to me. And I agree 5 straight is on Les. Les forgets that there is a 1st and 2nd down. That's why he pretty much wastes them rather frequently, just settling for a single yard or two on an up-the-middle. Like he said last night, it's all about the third down. As I've said before I've detached myself somewhat from my beloved team. So as not to be so disappointed. But to continue losing to BAMA and in that way really stings. I can't imagine what the fans on-hand for the game must have felt.
LSU hasn't lost five straight to Bama since a guy named Bryant was coaching there. Bama has lost five straight games to LSU as recently as 2003-2007.
I don't much care about the streaks and other than a few small things I don't have a problem with the coaching last night. However not having a QB and not developing a passing game as the season has gone on are lingering issues that carry over season to season. Last season's passing game was definitely an anomaly.
I know exactly who you're talking about without even seeing his face. He was the ref for the PP pick that wasn't in '09. He was also the ref that picked up the PI flag on Doucet at AU in 2006(?). Shady things always happen to us when his crew calls the game.
