Here's a non-lawyer guess. ESPN has the right to broadcast night games. My guess is the contract does not say if ESPN has to broadcast the game on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, or EVEN CBS. CBS contracts to broadcast an ESPN night game, which would be LSU v Alabama. In return, for the right to broadcast the ESPN game, CBS gives up its right to pick a game one weekend and gives that right to ESPN. In which case, neither the SEC, LSU, or Alabama can do anything about it.
Daytime / Nightime doesn't matter: The Crimson Tide will have the home field, but on Bama’s home fields the Tigers are 10-4 since 1982.
We've won 8 of the last 11 including three wins in Tuscaloosa. Even so I hope it's a day game because CBS can KMA! I won't cry if they don't get their way. They say screw LSU night games so I'd gladly return the favor.
If I'm not mistaken CBS has the right to air a double header a few times a year. In the past one game would be the night game. I'm not sure with ESPNs new contract if that's still the case. Day, night, I don't care. Just bring it.
They're not part of the SEC so SEC contracts wouldn't apply. They played in the am because that was the best slot they could get.
