I am flipping thru the channels and see Rondell Mealey and Cecil Collins in the backfield, Faulk on the sidelines with an injury, Herb under center, and Larry Foster catching passes and returning punts all over the place. Thought you guys might wanna watch. Hopefully they'll replay AU/LSU Classics all week.

Nemesis Bates...one of the greatest Tiger names ever. And Cecil was a BEAST. Probably as close to Bo Jackson as anyone...but so so dumb.

Cecil looked like Earl Cambell. Pretty good game except for the outcome. Tiger Stadium was loud and the field looked great.

I watched the last two quarters of that last night. A few notes:

    1. We had some absolute beasts on our defense. Guys like McFarland, Roman, etc. Carl Reese was a pretty good coordinator.

    2. JJ still reminds me of Herb Tyler, but with better measurables.

    3. Watching Cecil Collins just flat-out made me sad. So much talent and natural ability--all wasted...

    4. I can't believe DiNardo didn't run Collins on 3rd and 2 from midfield. We had to punt and went on to lose the game, as Craig threw it down the field on us--though there was a bogus PI call on Mark Roman, which is probably the reason AU scored. (Some things never change when we play AU--like horrible officiating.)

    5. That was my first year in Dallas, and it brought back how homesick I was then. And how I still miss Baton Rouge after all this time.

mark roman kinda got hosed on that PI call late.
i was in the student section and didn't remember that play.

of course if he could have come up with a pick a few plays before, the game would have been over.

that was a really tough loss at the time, and a great game.

someone asked me the question a while back what the greatest game you saw in tiger stadium where the team that lost really left it all out on the field.

pick a game where LSU lost and a game that LSU won.

i picked this game for LSU losing. really hated to see them lose that one.

on the flip side i picked fla 07 for the opponent. that team withstood the unleash hell moment and kept coming. sucked for them.

That Fla 97 game was the best game I ever saw in Tiger Stadium. Ga in 02 was it was great, but Florida was a beast game. Sat in the student section and got on thefield after. Whata game, what a memory. Really wasnt all that into LSU before that, that game and the emotion and pride it brought up hooked me ever since. Dont live in BR anymore but still have my tickets in case..
