I agree Izzle, it's easy to be an LSU fan these days, but like a marriage, I'm in for better or worse...What's telling is that I don't really see much fair weather fandom around.

Tulane, on the other hand, has no real fan base at all (not since the 40's) but whenever they beat LSU in football (once or twice a lifetime) you see much ugliness when people in New Orleans jump on their bandwagon as if they were there all along. It's sickening .

You youngsters didn't have to live through that, and don't know how to properly hate TU. The president of their University is the biggest athletic crybaby and is instigating unrest against the BCS in Congress because the major schools that produce all the revenue aren't sharing the $$ with schools like TU.

Don't want to hijak, so I'll return to commenting how amazing it is right now to be an LSU fan. I read somewhere here where LSU is no. 9 in the directors cup. We'd be higher if we added lacrosse, hockey etc.

    LSU forever !! :tigereye:.

Yes, by schools that wish they had better football teams.

I think Bassetball takes a bit of a hit this year. We lost experienced players and recruiting has not been impressive.

I seem to remember in the 1980's that LSU was first or second to UCLA for several years in the all-sports competition.

LSU has 20 varsity sports. There are many other club sports at LSU, like lacrosse, mens soccer, wrestling, ultimate frisbee, karate, and rugby.

LSU once had championship varsity wrestling and men's gymnastics but had to give them up for Title IX. Varsity boxing was also dropped in the 1950's for lack of SEC competition.

Boxing should be brought back. Like I said before, practically all boxing is pay per view only. An SEC golden gloves type tournament on free TV... live... would garner lots of ratings and generate a lot of interest in boxing in general.

I think that promoters screwed the pooch when they went totally to Pay per view and by default left old matces on TV for replays. I mean, everyone knows who won the thrilla in Manilla or who won the medals in the last olympics.

Amateur, collegiate cards on ESPN or the networks would be a big hit!!

Anyone for a Bama vs LSU smackdown ... live on TV ?

I think it's great that we seriously have to ask ourselves this question every year.

Anybody remember Crowe Peele's Texaco station at the corner of State and Highland in Tigertown, circa 1965-1990? There is a smoothie shop there now. Crowe Peele had been a champion LSU boxer in the late 40's. Kind of surly, but a damn good mechanic, too.
