Back when the LSU baseball program was winning 5 national championships during the 90s, the football program had been through the worst decade ever. The basketball program, which was once competitive, was trying to find itself again. Now LSU only 2 years removed from a football championship and the newly crowned king of college baseball, along with a basketball program that looks to be headed in the right direction, this program appears to be as strong as it ever has been in it's entire existence. The closest thing I can compare it to is the 1986-1987 period where LSU baseball became a major player, Arnsparger had the football program as strong as ever, and the basketball program just came off back to back Elite 8 appearances (with one being a final four). What say you?
I agree. When you have nearly every form of collegiate sport team participating in post season play you have much to be proud of. It is a great time to be a Tiger fan.
we've gone through this before but i guess its worth revisiting with another NC. 2000 was good too, but baseball ended up on a downswing and basketball's success was short-lived.
This will make twice in two days that I agree with 'Rue,, but it's been no more than 12 months since this was last asked. - That said, definitely in ONE of the strongest positions. If you mean the past 5-7 year period, no doubt. If you mean right now right now, probably.
right now, right now As in, what's expected of the various programs going forward. I can't think of feeling any better than now. right now, right now
I believe I read yesterday that every LSU sports team made it to post-season play for the first time in school history.
Here's a link to a story in the Advocate. I'm a little confused by the wording. It says that points are awarded based on each institutions finish in up to 20 sports - 10 women's and 10 men's. It goes on to say that all 20 LSU teams qualified for post season play, another school first. LSU has more than 20 men's and women's teams combined don't they? No matter the answer, one hell of a 2008-2009 sports season for the Tigers. :thumb: 2theadvocate.com | Sports | LSU finishes ninth in Director's Cup standings — Baton Rouge, LA
