i guess i forgot to warn you about the arrogance. i had not heard that cheer. thank god they werent doing it opening weekend when i went to a couple of games with greenie. i might have shot someone. like the nearest greenie. everything i hear about the fieldturf is the players really like it. ive known some of their parents. but it just doesnt seem right to me. :nope: hope you enjoyed the game, minus the final score of course.
well in defense of hawthorne, i was RIGHT THERE and that ball by lemahieu looked like it hit the bag and was fair. it would have plated two runs and LSU would have went ahead one run. instead, he struck out on the next pitch. it was a good rally by LSU, but you could tell the players weren't in to the game at ALL until about the 4th or 5th inning. sucks that they always do that in midweek games. someone (cough, mainieri, cough) should tell them that those games count as well. if not for conference championships, for team confidence.
it was a great game, really. i didn't agree with CPM taking matulis out and putting cain in. matulis had given up three runs, but he had settled down a little bit when they decided to go with cain. if they were trying to build matulis' confidence up, why yank him when he was just starting to overcome adversity and settle in? it's almost like LSU wasn't really concerned about winning this game at all. THEN to pitch matty ott at the end was even stranger. idk, just a really strange turn of events surrounding this game.
i agree that it seemed like he was settling down. i know he had problems finding the strike zone early in the game, but seemed to overcome that. the yanking him was a repeat of what cpm did a lot early during last season which baffled me. pulling a pitcher right as he seemed to be getting into a rhythm.
