Hornsby played the first 12 minutes. I think he got injured.

Eventually yes, not many rookies come in and carry a team immediately though. In fact, I can't think of any that have carried a team deep into the playoffs. Not Lebron, who was also very passive his rookie year and the same age as Simmons is now, not AD or even MJ.

Anthony Davis was essentially MVP of the title game and only made a singular basket...

    As a freshman.

    That was transcendent talent.

    He still is that, actually..

After investing too many days/nights watching this team disappoint, I finally said no more. I took the family to the track last night. Didn't even think to check on the score until this morning. I'm not surprised they lost, but am surprised they got blown out. Did this team quit?

AD could do what he does because of the talent around him on that team. Ben does all those things as well but apparently is also required to carry the scoring load. Put it this way, replace Ben with AD from that year on this team and how much different is our record?

In all honesty, this team goes as Quarterman goes. He has a bad game and we lose. Plain and simple. It sucks because he's been terribly inconsistent this year.

I think Quarerman is a little jealous of Simmons. His body language has been like he would rather be somewhere else most of the season.

He seems to pout a lot and fold when things aren't going his way. The team was better with him off the bench.

All season it has looked to me like JJ essentially lets Simmons do whatever he wants to do and I can only imagine that has to rub some of the other players wrong. I've seen Simmons talking shit on court and to opposing fans while we are losing games time after time. All in all, I'm not that impressed with the kid. In fact, Blakeney has really blossomed in the latter part of the season and he brings it every time he's on the floor. Sometimes having someone like Simmons isn't necessarily the best thing for the team. In fairness this is often predicated on coaching and we currently have little. You look at guys like Coach K, Calipari, etc. and they handle top tier talent every year and are able to make them a part of the team. JJ out of his league with X's and O's. And recruiting wise, other than landing Simmons, who we all know only came because of David Patrick, and Blakeney, who essentially followed Simmons here....who else has Jones really brought in? Sure a few 4 star guys who have evolved okay but nothing to write home about.
