by Michael Bonnette (@LSUBonnette), Sr. Assoc. Athletic Director/SID BATON ROUGE – A home-and-home two-game series against the University of Texas and the return to the Cowboys Classic against Miami (Fla.) to open the 2018 season are the latest additions to future LSU football schedules, LSU Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva announced on Thursday. LSU and Texas will play during the regular-season for the first time since 1954 when the Tigers travel to Austin to face the Longhorns on Sept. 7, 2019. Texas will make the return trip to Tiger Stadium the following year as the teams will meet in Baton Rouge on Sept. 12, 2020. LSU will open the 2018 season at AT&T Stadium in the Cowboys Classic against Miami (Fla.). The LSU-Miami game is scheduled for Sept. 1 and it will be the first meeting between the teams since the 2005 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. It will be LSU’s third appearance in the Cowboy Classic as the Tigers played in the event in 2011 against Oregon and in 2013 against TCU. http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=209719995
It will be fun times tailgating in downtown Austin. The UT fans will hate coming to BR. Their arrogance and smugness can get the better of them.
I've met a few, very few good people from Austin, those were ones that had moved from La. Most of the people there, can do nothing outside an office.
My wife went to college in Austin (didn't graduate there) but she still has tons of old college friends who did and are season ticket holders. I enjoy going to Austin to tailgate with them. They have a huge setup and a lot of smoked meat. I like the downtown atmosphere. It is very different experience than tailgating on campus in BR. I enjoy the long walk to 6th Street after the game. Now that I have stated my affiliation and love for gameday, let me elaborate on my UT fan experience. The fans are great when UT wins. They are a terrible display of over-entitled disgust when they lose. They don't interact very well after a loss. I have had endless rounds of debates over why does the SEC root for the SEC. They are haters of everyone who is not their team. They couldn't think about favoring OU or Baylor in a NC game. That is why they have their own network. No share. No love.
As a Dallas Resident I love playing in Jerry World. So I am a big fan. Texas I suspect will be pretty good by then.
Yea if you peel up the star at mid field you'll find a tiger eye. Considering we win there more than they do it's appropriate!
Looking at those dates makes me take pause. The 2019 UT game will be when my older daughter is a freshman in college. Her dream school right now is the University of Texas. Regardless, it's funny that she could possibly be a student at one of those schools when we play that series. (if it ever happens...)
