I agree. If a coaches job status is based on beating Saban then they'll be a lot of unemployed coaches. If he wins the others and is competitive against Bama I say he stays.
Paying the kind of salary it would take to get him. He better beat Bama at least one out of three. Coach O would do it.
Here's to hoping, but damn I'd never hear the end of it from my girls family. Losing to r-Kansas sucks with the year long bragging from them... just irritates me.
What is your point? I wasn't a fan of how Orgeron left but I understand WHY he left. I was in favor of giving him a 1-year contract. I wasn't a fan of Sardrunkian and while I had hopes for Helton, he wasn't who I wanted either. My point to you was about giving a hat tip to Ole Miss simply because they are in the SEC when USC has a winning record against SEC teams. USC was the same caliber and yet Orgeron was hamstrung by a limited roster and an inept, asshole AD.
I would hope they would not screw over coach O. If he's not the guy he should have been told, so the rug is not pulled out from under him. If he earns the job he should get it. I'm not impressed with his Ole Miss record, but it was his first HC job at an SEC school. He was also in the toughest side of the best conference so I'm hoping he has learned how to navigate that schedule. Maybe that experience has prepared him to be our next coach and be successful. I think he has better athletes, coaches and facilities here at LSU to help him be successful. I am hopeful this season will show us how he can develop our talent and gauge what we should do going forward. We should play our best ball as the season goes on.
This is what I don't get. It would scare the living hell out of me. He was at Ole Miss for three years. In those three years, he won three conference games. Three. Vandy won twice that many. Now, this is Mississippi. It's not an area that lacks talent and we know they can get kids in school if they need to. The booster group you're hearing about now was certainly in place then. Just not as forward. His third year at Ole Miss had an 0-8 record. That's two classes, minimum, that's he recruited. And, the opening loss was to Vandy? You never can tell with any coaching hire. You can guess, surmise, etc. But geez, if I were in your shoes I'd be nervous if that ADMIN is looking that way.
