Like you guys I didn't know jack about PSU so I got on to one of their fan forums. It turns out their strong point is defense as well and they real unhappy with their offense and hate their OC. Sounds familiar huh? It turns out their QB, Clark, is a pretty good runner as well as passer but the coaches don't want him to run so they are trying to make him a pocket passer. Hmmmmmmm also familiar. They figure with the defenses & offenses in this game that it will be close & low scoring and most, surprisingly, figure that we win.:milesmic: The biggest gripe that they have about their team is their special teams. They are worried as hell about Trindon and figure he will return at least 1 to the house since their coverage is so bad. They have also had problems with missed FG's and a couple of blocked punts. They are guessing that Miles is going to try a fake FG or punt on them. Also when JJ gets pressure he holds on too long and gets sacked. Their guy tends to throw the ball short. Are you listening Patrick Peterson? The parts of their team they like best are their running game and their linebackers. They apparently also have a real good DT too. Well that's the scouting report.:geaux:
I'll bite. LSU needs to come out swinging with efficient passing game that doesn't take very long to develope. Ridley, RS, and Holliday have to hit holes and always run for positive yards. The running game has to be both powerful and quick. Recievers need to catch the balls that hit their hands and, since it's a big ten school, have to be ready for the hits that will be coming. Our offensive line will have to step up the most and provide consistent blocking for JJ. Hopefully, we throw away anything resembling the meerkat offense from the playbook. Our Defense will have to not miss tackles, and hopefully, we get to see some blitz packages for a change. I predict that we will win, but I think it won't be by too much. I would love to see a defensive stand off, with us pulling away in the second half. :geaux:
My brother, PSU PhD, claims the Nittany Lions practice harder than they will have to play to beat us. Screw Him. I do not think anyone should underestimate PSU or JOPA. Having said that, if we 1) Play 60 minutes (and I do not think we have done that very well this year) and 2) Execute we will take them. PSU can not keep up in a high tempo game where we use ALL OF OUR WEAPONS. Like always, poor execution, mental mistakes, and turnovers will kill us. I just hope that we work to get the ball out of JJ's hand QUICKLY and we make full use of the talent we have. This should be a good game. I hope if is 56 - 0, so I can relax, but I expect it will be closer than that. Again execute to potential and play 60 minutes. Merry Christmas. hwr
i think we will see some new wrinkles in the passing game with gonzales. maybe i'm being overly optimistic, but it sounds like he's been working with the passing game a good bit and we should see some results. defense will (should) be healthy and well-rested, and i think we'll get a few key TOs in this game. call me dumb but i think CJ or PP will take one to the house. trindon should be able to exploit their shortcomings on special teams and perhaps take one to the house himself. if things pan out that way, we may not need to score much on offense. we may just need some excruciatingly long drives to keep PSU defense on the field. we should be able to stuff the run, we just need to tackle solidly. it can be done! i'm surely feeling a lot more optimistic about this game than i was before we hired wilson and gonzales. maybe it's not too much, but it should at least give the players and coaches something fresh to work with. ridley, shep and trindon should combine for about 150 yards or so and a score. another score on defense and special teams and a few strategically placed FGs should do it, eh? :geaux::lsup:LSU!:lsup:LSU!
I think I read somewhere that we are wearing white jerseys & gold pants. This suits the PSU fans since they desperately want to wear their blue jerseys. The other thing they wanted to know when I was on their board was it really true that our 1st 3 running back were actually injured and that we were really down to our 4th. I think they thought that Miles may be trying to pull a fast one and on game day Scott suddenly shows up. I told them unfortunately it's true but that Trindon & Shep are more likely to take it to the house than pound for 1st downs so it's pick your poison. By the way, they also know big time who Patrick Peterson is. Apparently several of them watched us play Bama and saw him on Julio all day. One of them said that was the best corner he saw all year in ANY conference. I agreed.:thumb:
Your brother spent too much time on his dissertation and not enough time on the fan boards or in front of ESPN to know what he's talking about. :hihi: He's entering YOUR realm now !! :tigereye:.
