What I think? I think, defensively, we shut them out. I know, its BOLD right! Though to be clear, we just shut them out from a TD. I think and know our D can do it, and if they play mistake free in the first game in Death Valley this year, the fans will go nuts. I am 100% sure our first drive will consist 90% of the run. Hopefully JJ brings his QB scope and he can hit some players in stride. If not, I hope Miles can start a rotation between him and Lee before its the 4th quarter. LSU 35- MSU 9
Miles is going to give JJ a chance to redeem himself. So far, JJ hasn't hurt us, really, but he hasn't helped anything either. I look for him and Lee to split time. The running game will be good, but I think Miss State is going to move 7-8 in the box to contain us, making us throw. That could lead to more open receivers, or JJ getting sacked/making stupid mistakes. The defense, I think, is why we will win the game. They were steller against Vandy. Sorry, but I don't by the "It's just Vandy" argument. Anytime you walk away with six sacks and keep the opponent to three points is a great game. Overall, we will keep improving. But the QB position is a few steps behind. Still, I see us 21-7, but I expect it to stay tight until the fourth quarter.
17-3 Tigers. 1 rushing touchdown by Russell Shepard, 1 fumble recovery and scamper for a touchdown by Sam Montgomery after Drake Nevis murders the quarterback. Russell Shepard is going to break the rushing touchdown record by a wide receiver this year :hihi:
31-10. Gotta realize that MSU calls Relf a quarterback. That's mistake #1. The other QB is a Frosh. In Tiger Stadium. On a Saturday night. Mistake #2. Who is their running back? Certainly not Anthony Dixon who gave us all we wanted last year. Defensively, Devin Jones rocked Auburn's world. Wouldn't surprise me to see him making waves on our Oline. But I think that's the only struggle we have. We just run to the other side
We've been playing down to State for the past 2 years, and sadly, I have seen nothing to indicate that it won't happen again. I'm not yet sold on our D being as dominant as everyone else seems to think. Gonna have to prove it against someone other than Vandy. I haven't forgotten the UNC meltdown. State is also going to be amped up with something to prove, given that they nearly beat us last year. I'd love to see another old-fashion beat-down of State like we used to administer annually, but I see this one being a lot closer than it should be. I accept that Miles is too damn stubborn to get Lee any significant snaps, so our offense will once again struggle to find any rhythm. No idea what the score will be, but I doubt it will make any of us feel better about the rest of the season.
