There is only one LSU receiver in the College Football Hall of Fame -- Ken Kavanaugh. I know none of us saw him play, but he was an All-American and a legend in his time.

Josh Reed is the only Bilitnikof Winner from LSU and a potential future Hall of Famer.

I watched that game. Rice in 1977 was the worst football team I had ever seen. Carlos Carson's first five college receptions were all TD bombs, an NCAA record. He broke the record the next week with his 6th college reception, which was also a TD bomb. He still holds the record.

Rice was so undertalented and poorly coached. It was 77 easy points and could have been worse. Carson had caught over 200 yards and was still not being double-covered. Rice finally wised up and put an nickle back in the game. But Cholly Mac had already pulled Carson for a reserve, who never saw the ball because we were running it and he was taking two defensive backs out of every play.

That still dosen't diminish the talents of Carson who had a very good college career and went on to become a very good pro receiver with the Kansas City Chiefs. I'm not saying that he was LSU's greatest of all time, just that he deserves to be in the poll.
