He had to be LSU's oldest living letterman. Last of the great 1930's LSU football stars.

Wow! Lived to the grand old age of 97. And he passed away at one of the most beautiful places on the planet, Pebble Beach.

    RIP Moose. :geauxtige

Moose was the longtime principal @ Istrouma High. He used to sit on the tailgate of his pick-up in the late 70's/early 80's outside of Istrouma's football stadium with a big German shepherd on a leash.

    RIP, Moose.

Several weeks ago Moose got my vote for best all-time  center on this board.

His granddaughter is a waitress at Gilbert's Seafood Grill on the Monterey wharf.

Met her several years ago and had a great conversation with her about her grandpappy.

Told me that even at 90+ years he was still as tough as nails.

Said he liked talkin' 'bout his glory days at Ole War Skule, and that he was still a great Tiger fan.

She noticed my LSU! polo shirt and we started talkin'.

I recall she was quite an attractive young thing.

    RIP Moose.

They printed Stewart's obit in the paper yesterday and I learned something new. He was drafted by the NFL , but decided to join the Marine Corps instead and made a 23-year career of it, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. Then he worked another 25-year career as a high school football coach and principal.
