why do you call it "UL"? it is clearly the university of louisiana at lafayette = ULL. just as the university of louisiana monroe = ULM. do you call ULM "UL" as well? if so i can at least understand dropping a letter out of laziness.
It is not the same. LSU's dropping of the A&M doesn't change anything about the university's status. USL's (*cough*, I mean, ULL's) dropping the last 'L' DOES change it...it's a deliberate attempt to pretend that they somehow represents all of the state, rather than a region. ULL is NOT the University of Louisiana. It is the University of Louisiana, Lafayette...it is a regional campus, NOT the UL system flagship. To use an analogy, it's like USL is a woman whose stuffing her bra. She might look like she's a D cup, but in reality, she's just an A cup and a whole lot of toilet paper.
ULL dropping the Lafayette is exactly the same thing as if LSU-Shreveport or LSU-Alexandria dropped their city names. Dropping that part of the name is just confusing and a pathetic attempt to impersonate something in which you are not. If you want your school to get respect try improving academics, athletics, admissions standards, etc.

I don't give a chit what they're called.. they're coming to Tiger Stadium to play us Saturday night, so if I gotta call em something, I'm calling them Tiger Bait.
They are bullies to everyone on their board. Don't even think of posting that you are an LSU fan. They can't bully ULM on the football field. I think ULM has beaten the mighty "we are Louisiana" "ragin" cajuns 6 of the last 7 years.
maybe they are still mad that everyone who started ahead of them on their high school teams plays for LSU.
