I'm aware of rebuilding cycles, but the QB issue was not a surprise and should not have been so bad again. We're not talking about rebuilding bad, we're talking about God awful bad, which is not an isolated event under Miles. Regardless, you must understand how relativity works. Relative to the SECW, we are indisputably worse off as Bama has sprinted past us and AU is neck-and-neck. From arguably being the top dog to fighting for second is worse. Maybe in a bubble we are operating at a similar level, but reality isn't in a bubble.
Then you are much more forgiving of Miles than you were for Saban. Saban put together some shakey teams during his time here, but I don't think his offense ever looked as bad as the aggregate offense during Miles' ten-year. I will say you've seemed to be more reasonable lately regarding discussing criticisms of Miles. I don't mind folks being proMiles, it's just nice to feel like we're having a conversation vs battling each other.
I've purposely stayed out of the CLM discussions over the past few weeks because I find much of it distasteful. Since he's been here, there's been a segment of the fanbase that has had an almost unreasonable hatred for Miles mostly because, it seems to me, of who he's not. This past season seems to have increased that number, or at least increased the volume of that number. I'm a Miles fan and I think he's earned the right to correct the problem. But it is a problem. And I think CLM has one of two options -- allow the offense to change to fit the personnel, specifically QB, or get a QB that fits the scheme. I agree that trying to force a round peg into a square hole just won't work. I also agree that there were other factors in play last year -- mostly experience -- but we got a glimpse into what the LSU offense can do when a pro style QB is behind center. I don't have a timeline for when CLM has to make those changes, but I'd be willing to bet some of those with power or money or both do, and I'd bet they've communicated that to CLM and the administration.
I just want someone that's in the inner circle to slap Les across his face or maybe splash some water on his face and tell him to wake the fuck up and let Cam Cameron do with the offense what John Chavis does with the defense. I mean fuck, why does this offense seem almost identical to the offenses when Crowton, Stud, Krag were here? Only difference is a little less option. The common denominator is Miles. He has to get the fuck out of the way, let the coordinators do their jobs and stick to recruiting, motivating and clapping with his palms.
Does anyone remember the game Les said into the headset, "You got to throw the ball there!" Might have been talking to himself?
I guess that's that? This isn't part of what you consider your willingness to discuss anything, is it? Gotta say, though, I'm enjoying both fired up and comical Red. Keep em coming!
