Heck I was raised catholic but was never a ND fan. I can remeber the ND football show came on every weekend on BR TV when I was growing up. My folks love ND because they were devout catholics. But they always pulled for LSU when we played 'em.ldskule:
oh right, so was I but clearly no reason to pull for that team. also I think lou holtz won there because he was able to lower the standards then they went back to no free passes after. which is why no high profile coach has been there since and why urban cryer went to FU instead. except until last year if what tiga said is true which I didnt know.
ND suffered with higher grade standards (true) but I never understood their recruiting classes being #1 year after year but never showing up in the polls during the season. There clearly was a bias towards ND with national recruiting rankings.
clearly. once the standards were back to normal there werent anymore tim browns or rocket ismails carrying their teams. they suffered the nebraska midwest white boy disease. good recruiting on paper, slow on the field especially when matched up against boys from the dirty south. that was driven home once again when we smoked them in the sugar bowl a few years back. and it continues.
True, which is why the SEC has dominated over the last decade. The south has most of the speed, especially on defense. It doesn't explain the northern inner city talent. Do they not recruit those kids or have they not qualified?
they havent been able to due to the requirements. the old popes in charge would have none of it. so theyd get the best of the smarter guys. not exactly a winning formula regardless what the recruiting rankings say. they are now an overhyped vandi.
