Illinois, Cincy, and TCU. Not stellar teams, but very solid teams. I think it is pretty safe to say OU is the best team right now. Should be a great game this weekend and I am not sure what happened to Colt McCoy this summer but he actually looks like a real QB this year.
Again, does Colt McCoy? Texas is even less tested than we are, at this point. And OU beat Washington (who looks abysmal), not Illinois (that was Missouri.) I'm not sold on Illinois at all because outside of Juice Williams, they don't have much.
He's never been that bad, but the competition he's played thus far this year is terrible (including Arkansas, of course.) The Red River Shootout will tell the tale of McCoy and Bradford. Personally, I'm hoping for a score like 50-48 in regulation. We'll see if they have 1) defenses and 2) if their offenses are THAT potent.
This could be true but I think you can learn things about guys even if they aren't playing top competition. Colt McCoy is running the ball a lot better than he has been in the past and has cut down on mistakes. They probably won;t be able to run the ball Saturday so it will be interesting to watch him play. Juice is probably the third best player on the team fwiw.
OU's offense is better but mccoy has been pretty unstoppable. he will probably wake up once he faces the sooners and realize hes colt mccoy and continue the mack brown tradition.
What's that? Brown starting his post-game press conference with, "I'd like to apologize to all the Texas fans..." with the requisite drawl, of course.
So it was right to place UGA as preseason #1? USC? Bullcrap. Truth be told, NO rankings should come out until about week 6...as teams have played a couple of conference games...and have either been exposed, or have proven some mettle. Until that point, the NC should be #1. UGA was ranked #1 based on pure hype from last year. USC was ranked #1 based on hype from the past several years. Both have fallen to "inferior" teams. UGA, because their hype was new, fell farther than the "proven" hype of USC...even though UGA lost to a far superior team than USC. Let's not forget tOSU, who was ranked ahead of LSU to start the season, despite the shelling they took in the BCSNCG from who? Why were they ranked where they were? Because they had to play USC early on, and that created the bigger matchup. Polls are crap this point in the season. LSU is #1...until somebody takes it from them. Period.
I thought you were just being a happy LSU fan. Damn, cant believe you really believe that. I dont think it is neccessary to rank Kansas' basketball team #1 now that 90% of their scoring has left for the NBA or for ganja sessions... ellipsis
