Hi - I just spent about 30 mins typing up some information about our team and I was apparently not logged in so the reply didn't take and I couldn't get back to the screen...so, I am going to have to come back for more information...our DEF should be one of the best...we finished #6 last year in total defense. Most of the two deep is made up of 5 and 4 star players and a few 3 stars and one 2 star. The DL (and star rating) starts Robert Quinn (4), Marvin Austin (5), Tydreke Powell (4), and Quinton Coples (4) with LB's Bruce Carter (3), Quan Sturdivant (4), and Kevin Reddick (4). The DB's are: Kendric Burney (3), Charles Brown (2), Deunta Williams (4), and DaNorris Searcy (4). The two deep: (DL) 5,4,3,3 (LB) 4,3,4 (DB) 3,3,2,4 We have talent on DEF and much of it is experienced JR's and SR's...most of the starters have started 3 and 4 years. Here is what Scout's CFN thinks about them: Scout.com: Top Returning NFL Prospects - Defense LSU can win this game if they force UNC to turn the ball over...our OFF could surprise this year...we actually expect them to, but until we see it, we will be skeptical...UNC will probably hold LSU to less than 300 yards...maybe LSU gets over 300 yards, but I really doubt 400. This is not being critical of your OFF, but the praise for our defense...without my Carolina blue glasses on, this is a really good defense. I am looking forward to the game...LSU is my favorite SEC school to pull for...it has been fun facing each other in basketball and baseball the last few years...I expect the FB game to be a good game as well...I am thinking the game wil be something like a 17-14 game...I hope we are the winners. One more thing...we have our entire kicking game back and deep snapper...so we've got that going for us. More about our offense later.
Hey I have an idea. Why don't we wait until at least the North Carolina game before everyone starts panicking and acting like LSU shouldn't even bother to show up for big SEC games this season? For God's sake, spring practice hasn't even started yet and people already think the season is as good as dead.
Wow that's quite a collection of talent on D, according to that link....top players at every position. Sounds like Butch Davis is bringing in talent (at least on D) much like he did at Miami in the late 90s that led to that run of 16 first round picks in a three year period in the early 2000's. I guess we'll find out right off the bat if LSU's offense has improved.
i dont know -- its the first game--- our guys will be itching to play-- we could win just bc we have better athletes----- we better have >350 yds and have a great defensive stand-- otherwise i agree we're screwed. LSU will need to avg about 25-31 PPG besides the fact of the rent a wins. i want defense and offensive stats!!!!
There's so many things wrong with your analysis I barely know where to begin. JJ can't improve much? Really? And you know this how? And what are your qualifications to judge? You're not just guessing, you're hoping you're right. Please don't pretend otherwise. The offense is complicated to improve? Really? How about we put some of those highly-regarded offensive lineman we recruited upfront and run behind them with some our highly-regarded running backs recruits? Yeah, that's complicated. Here's a prediction: We'll be one of the top four offenses in the SEC in 2010. Let's see which of us knows WTH he's talking about. And GL to your Tide. They're going to need it. :LSU231:
That brief statement was hardly the context of my analysis of LSU for next season. You may want to research some of my post on the offensive solutions. Your argument about the running game is my argument. Surely you've read other post on this forum who feel otherwise? There's your beef!
