The fact that USC is ranked higher than UGA and Auburn should be offensive to all SEC fans. Auburn loses to the No. 2/3 team in the country and UGA loses to the No. 3/2 team in the country and USC loses to a weak Oregon State team that lost badly to Penn St. and Stanford.

There is no explanation to justify that kind of ranking. It is complete horse sheet and I am offended by the coaches and the media.

All that said, it is par for the course and another example of biased, uneducated, and ignorant voting. Like I said par for the course.

And if the explanation is that USC was ranked higher to start the season and fell equally as far, then that is an example of the complete waste that are the preseason polls.

I know none of this matters, aside from a respect stand point, it just really burns my azz.

They gave up 35 points and almost 400 yards in total offense to the Hokies last night.

Granted, one game may not necessarily be an indicator but they didn't play like a dominating defense last night.

I might get bashed, but last night, Bama looked better than we did. Our DB's looked terrible.

Let's hope we get out of the swamp with a win, for starters. I'm more worried about that game than the home game with bama.

But we got a lot of football to go, and they've got to come to Tiger Stadium.

You are right, although I don't think anyone is getting ahead of themselves. That would be a great win in the Swamp, but I can see dropping that game and then knocking off a top-ranked Bama. :hihi:

I think it is critical that LSU beats Bama to win the SEC West. They look like they are coming back with a vengeance! The LSU-Bama game is going to be a tough and good one.

At this point, I still don't care about rankings. There's so much football to be played. So many more teams will get upset.

We are 4-0 overall, and 2-0 in the SEC.

We need to go to Gainesville and find a way to get a "W". Then, let's go to SCarolina and get another one.

If we get to 6-0 (4-0 SEC), then I'll start looking at rankings and worrying about all of that.

As far as all of this "respect" talk ..... we're ranked 2nd in the country. There are other teams out there that are 5-0 that are ranked below us. Let's let them be the ones to complain about respect.

We have two of these- :crystal:

I absolutely agree. At this point, I am not crazy about being bumped up so high by "default" (with the other higer ranked teams falling). I am concerned that that might get to be a distraction for the younger players. They need to keep on focussing on the next game and their self improvement. It is even very tempting for us fans to start thinking about the NC game since we are being ranked high now; I'd rather not think about it since there is still a long way to go with too many intangibles. We still have budding QB's , and a young defensive secondary. My hope is that LSU wins the SEC West and the SECCG. Whatever beyond is just gravy :D

I have a decent feeling that the team will not be distracted by this. Not sure I can say the same for Bama, however.

It could be that the MSU game was a trap game. Same could be said for SC, among others. As the board's motto goes, championships are won one game at a time.
