I'm more interested in what I see on the field than what I think a head coach's personal assistant thinks.
It's my opinion that the playoff committee's vote(s,) and opinion's of teams, are largely shaped by the polls—coaches and AP. Where do you find a team in the final 'hunt' that didn't start high, early? People say, "it's pre-season." I get that because we see teams that we think are going to do well and end up with a .500 season. However, those are outliers in the most extreme sense.
That fits for most. However teams in the SEC, Big 10 and likely ACC don’t have that requirement. Their conference schedule provides everything required to ascend to the playoffs. For example at 13 LSU has an obvious path and even at 25 Ole Miss could make it if it beat the teams in front. Not sure if the so called Big 12 or the PAC has the same potential beyond those already highly ranked.
