For my part, if it has to be that way (which it won't be, but for the sake of argument...), I wouldn't mind being the asterisk next to Bama's #14. Because as much as they would hate to admit it and would claim that that title was irrelevant, it would still burn them up to have to split it with us. Anything that makes a Gump angry, I'm for. But I wouldn't exactly crow about it.
Sorry but I just can't get hyped about a national championship trophy we didn't win. But as it has been said, it's gonna be moot anyway.
Well I have been alive for 41 yrs and award a national championship trophy each yr. so far LSU has won 41 in a row, gotta admit its looking good for this yr as well. That means something, huh? Until the NCAA awards a champ based on a playoff the BCS is the best we got the AP is almost meaningless. Won't matter this yr. not even that one loser who votes Boise number 1 all the time will be able to dispute what these tigers have put together and Will finish off Monday
Right. That'd be like getting hyped about winning an NC trophy and not having won your conference championship.
Good posting. Guys, go look in a sports almanac. 2003 was a split title. It's there in black and white. If LSU wins the AP trophy this year, it will be the same thing. You can choose to ignore it if you want to, but history will indeed record LSU as having 4 NCs. Playoffs are far past due.
Until the top 10 in the BCS rankings all play in BCS bowls, **** the BCS. It's no more valid than the AP award. If the SEC has 5 teams in the top ten of the final BCS rankings, so be it, they play in the BCS bowls. 1 plays 2, 3 plays 4, 5 plays 6, 7 plays 8... Instead you get #23 vs. #15, #11 vs. #13. Automatic bids is BS. Those 4 teams should be Cotton, Peach and others. When there's only 5 Bowl Championship Series games, how do you justify #23 #15 in one of those games?
