Paterno and Bowden are lousy coaches nowadays. They were great once upon a time, but now they are irrelevant in the coaching world. Paterno hasn't coached during a game in years. He paces the sidelines with no headset. He is a mascot now, and his assistants run the show. Bowden is a relic of old school football, who stubbornly clung to a son who was a terrible OC. Good coaches don't let nepotism stand in the way of team success. If he was any other person at any other school he would no longer be a coach there. These men were great coaches in the past, but haven't been even decent in many years. Now since this opinion is so blatantly dumb, please tell me where I am wrong? What have either one of these coaches done in the past few years to show they are still good coaches in today's game?
I guess I see your point. Peach Bowl = Sugar Bowl = BCS National Championship game. Yeah, that makes sense.
I guess in your brilliant logic Unitas and Montana are no longer in the "greats" club because the game passed them by their last few years in the league. The same goes for Lombardi, Bear Bryant, Bill Walsh since the game passed them by too and they didn't win as much in their last years. Paterno and Bowden are among the great coaches of all-time even though the game has passed them by now. The "great" label is thrown around too loosely today and apparently under the dandy homer logic it is only temporary and seasonal. no wonder y'all think Miles is a great coach. you homers take the cake. :nope:
2 losses every year is pretty consistent to me. LSU deserved better than Peach bowl and needed hell to freeze over to make it to the title game.. by the way, either i have inside info or I'm just a brilliant analyst of the college football world. i called michigan's last ditch attempt at miles over the weekend. see "fat lady hasn't sung...yet" article on http://www.thelouisianasportsmen.com/ you homers may need to check with me from time to time for realistic football commentary.... y'all will be alright, don't worry....
Typical "talking head" response. When faced with facts you can't avoid start making excuses. LSU is in the NC game this year aren't they? They weren't last year or the year before right? That's progress, no matter what way you slice it. Ask Auburn if the number of wins and losses matter in the BCS. CLM sold his team like a great coach should in the BCS era. Remember his "dumb" remarks about being undefeated in regulation? Don't act like voters weren't listening. You say we needed hell to freeze over, I say we only needed a great coach. No thanks.
Here, I will bold the parts you seemed to miss. Love, Homer Paterno and Bowden are lousy coaches nowadays. They were great once upon a time, but now they are irrelevant in the coaching world.
Spurrier who you elude to as great, backed into his 1 National title. With 1 loss on his record already, he needed OSU to beat Arizona St. in the Rose Bowl to even sniff the title. Luckily for him it happened.
I guess you miss my point of once you make the greatness club you don't lose it because you stick around too long...wish LSU could find somebody to stick around that long...but retire upon realizing the game passed them by see where you live in Dallas area or from there...I did for 7 yrs on the east side of Dallas, was glad to finally move away from there...cowboy fans are crazy, but i had fun with them. i will eventually get back to La...at least retire there....hunting and fishing too good...at least check the site out for the hunting and fishing and true tales... enjoyed the bantering, I let y'all rip me w/o interruption from here out...until new thread...
