1 MNC = dominance? In an SEC that was weaker then than it is now? Any particular reason this "great" coach can't win as many games at So. Carolina as Lou Holtz did? Oh, that's right, he doesn't have great players. So, IF Spurrier has great players, he can win and is great, but when Miles wins with great players, it's only because of the players?
I am pretty confident no one has labeled him a great coach. He has won a championship now just like Saban and a shot at the NC. People really need to stop worrying of the grass is greener on the other side, we have a great coach now...
I guess Bowden and Paterno aren't great coaches anymore since they aren't winning even conference titles anymore. Spurrier's dominance of the SEC over the 90's speaks to his greatness since two other SEC teams won national titles in that decade. not to mention Spurrier probably lost one national title to one of the most dominant teams in NCAA history in Nebraska and he had 8 straight years of finishing in the top-10 including 4 straight top-5's. If he even gets USC to the SEC conference title game that would be most impressive...Ga, Fl. and Tenn should never lose to them. Bear Bryant is the only one who surpassed Spurrier's conference dominance. Greatness is more than winning one title of anything, but how long can you maintain those winning ways. Miles has many more years to go before he can get in Spurrier's class. I don't like it, but...it is what it is...time will tell. This year's seniors at LSU have been clutch on so many plays this year...well that speaks for itself...Hester, Flynn, Doucet, Dorsey...nuff said!
:geaux: Since you obviously have all the answers, maybe you should apply for Pelini's DC job!! Or better yet, why don't you just call Skip Bertman up, tell him to fire Miles now and put you in charge!! Keep an eye out on Crowton's job too just in case. Guess the players have been on "autopilot" for the last three years with no guidance what-so-ever. Coach Miles and his staff aren't perfect, but they've been doing something right, i.e. 33-6, SEC Champs, NC game....
well... I did raise hell after the loss to Kentucky & Arkansas,, for some reason I expected us to play better, at least on defense... I can still see the Kentucky quarterback running up the middle for his first career rushing touchdown & that Arkansas fullback... aaaa never mind... We are in the SHIP!!! Could not ask for anything better so I am satisified.. I don't like this favorite role. Five weeks Ohio State has to hear that. But I know the Tigers will play their best - I just hope that & the coaching is good enough to win it... Geaux Tigers!!!! Oh, I have decided not to watch LSU basketball on tv anymore... almost lost my wife... Unbelieveable.
There you go. By your own definintion of "greatness in coaching" Les Miles is well on his way to being a "great" coach. This season he will have completed his third straight top 5 finish. And with the talent he is amassing he will probably top 8 straight if he stays that long. So I guess that you are a Les Miles supporter and didn't even know it. Thanks for getting on the band wagon finally.:thumb: :LSU231: :milesmic: :crystal: :crystal: :helmet: :geauxtige
did anyone go read the lasportsmen website? i'm not quite sure what to think of grown men who refer to each other by their "indian names?" oh yeah, be sure to read the SPORTS section of the website. this guy is something else. after reading all of the sports entries, i felt like this guy is very bitter toward LSU. i wonder why.
